The Team
The Wealth Management finance team provides finance and accounting support for MassMutual's registered broker-dealers and related subsidiaries.As an Accounting Associate on this team, you will be a key contributor to the accounting, regulatory reporting and analysis for MassMutual's Wealth Management subsidiaries. We are a smaller, tight-knit team so you will have the great opportunity of being exposed to different aspects of work and see a little bit of everything in this role.
The Impact
As a Wealth Management Accounting Associate, you will have impact through using your skills to both execute core operational accounting tasks, but also by utilizing your financial analysis and communication skills to support our Wealth Management organization. Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following
- Execute daily/weekly cash responsibilities and reconciliations for Wealth Management entities
- Execute assigned monthly close responsibilities including journal entries, account reconciliations and settling of inter-company balances
- Produce and analyze sales reports and trending
- Utilize industry best practices to visualize data in a way that allows quick and easy insight
- Respond to inquiries and requests from external auditors and regulatory examiners
- Analyze trends and results, use strong business acumen and communication skills to contribute to commentary which enables readers (including leadership) to quickly understand how performance is impacting financial results
- Develops, documents, and assures adherence to an internal control framework that ensures accurate and timely financial reporting. Makes recommendations to continuously improve the overall control environment.
- Adherence to internal controls over financial reporting for assigned processes and comply with Sarbanes Oxley (FRR) standard work/initiatives. A
- Uses professional insight to identify and implement accounting improvements that increase the business value and efficiency of the team. Initiates and projects and continuous improvement activities that may span beyond the scope of the team's responsibilities.
The Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
- 1+ years of related accounting or finance experience.
- Due to the nature of this position, as a part of our background check process, candidates must be able to pass a non-registered fingerprint background check to qualify as a fingerprinted person under FINRA.

- Advanced Degree a plus
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound professional judgment
- Ability to adhere to strict deadlines
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products
- Demonstrate attention to detail, analytical abilities and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills relationship-building and effective verbal and written communication skills
- Positive attitude with enterprise and team orientation
- Prior experience with broker-dealers
- Familiarity with MMUS products & MMFA distribution channel
