The Team

The Asset Management (AM) Data Office supports AM efforts focused on advancing and executing against both Fidelity and AM Data Strategies.

The Role

In this role you will be significant part of the AM Data Office leadership team supporting efforts in delivering value to the business through the utilization and exploitation of data. The Vice President will be key in leading and providing thought leadership on key strategic areas of the program aimed at promoting highly scalable solutions and an operating model intended to enhance the organizations utilization of our data ecosystem and related capabilities. In this capacity the VP will spearhead work focused on evolving and maturing the organizations approach to data quality oversight (including Common, Alternative, and Derived datasets) in partnership with partners across the organization, will lead AMs role in business data ownership and enablement, and will look critically at the way AM is accessing and using data to advise strategies focused on reducing friction and risk as a part of those pipelines.

This role will be highly visible, requiring significant experience supporting executive program messaging applying a variety of communication formats at different levels tailoring critical information of a sophisticated or involved nature, to a senior and executive audiences while often being sought out by senior leadership for expert opinions and recommendations required to provide business solutions. The VP will be critically important to ensuring AM is able to support the data needs of the organization while balancing competing priorities within AM and in our support of firm wide data initiatives, recommending or making decisions for the organization that will result in efficient outcomes for a broad range of highly complex business problems.

The Expertise You Have

  • Bachelors or equivalent with 12-15+ years of experience or Masters with 10-12+ years of experience.
  • Significant experience leading/monitoring data platforms with data driven objectives with the ability to synthesize large sets of data
  • Significant experience applying a data-driven approach for decision making, both in day-to-day leadership and strategic trade off analysis
  • Significant experience working with business/technology partners to decompose existing processes, recommending changes to existing platforms or techniques, and helping drive business outcomes.
  • Expertise mentoring others in the process of eliciting alternatives and assessing trade-offs and their impact.
  • Excellent situational awareness and EQ to work through countering viewpoints and challenging priorities, ensuring we seek the best outcome for the firm and our clients
  • Experience with Agile principles and methodology including crafting roadmaps, grooming backlogs, defining requirements, and structuring work into valuable increments with a focus on continuous integration, delivery, and inspiring change
  • Defines strategies and plans for influencing multiple decision makers.
  • Gains agreement on the problem-solving process, risk assessment, decision points, and criteria developing new approaches and/or frameworks to help support successful delivery of objectives
  • Recognized as a strategic problem solver and/or someone who is willing to challenge the status quote

  • Providing thought leadership in the area of data governance and maintaining evolving expertise in data governance standard processes
  • Develops, leads, and innovates on frameworks to ensure Fidelity's data is of high quality and handled within a sound controls environment to support operational and investment processes of a highly critical nature
  • Provides leadership in implementing innovative analysis and measurement methods.
  • Influences high-impact, high-risk and highly sophisticated situations.
  • Supervises industry trends and directions and discusses possible impact on internal strategies.
