Role Description

RQA Risk & Quantitative Analysisteam seeks to hire an experienced risk manager to support BlackRock's risk management efforts in WMC. The role, based in Shanghai, will report to the Head of RQA, and will have active interactions with the RQA team across APAC.

Responsibilities

  • Support the head of RQA in managing WMC's investment and counterparty risk, including risk assessment on new products/strategies, risk-return evaluation and reporting on existing products, PM engagement for risk awareness and discussions, and escalation of risk issues.
  • Assist the head of RQA to make decisions on new product/strategy approval, new instrument onboarding, new building block onboarding, new counterparty onboarding, exceptional risk approval, risk alerts and risk acceptance.
  • Work with various stakeholders to enhance the Asset-Liability Management dashboard, facilitating transparency and efficient management to a large number of products across various asset classes and strategies.
  • Liaise with global RQA counterparts on WMC investment and counterparty risk management matters, ensure alignment with BLK's risk management culture and fiduciary duty to investors.
  • Enhance the WMC risk management framework by incorporating BLK global RQA best practice while adhering to local regulatory requirements. Addressing feedback from internal audit, external audit, compliance review and RCSA assessments.
  • Prepare investment risk management materials for local and global alignment, as well as ad-hoc assessments for senior management engagement.
  • Conduct product risk rating assessment and monitoring, refining product risk rating policies and methodologies for new and existing products.
  • Support Firm to Firm engagement, participating in risk related projects and initiatives.
  • Handle other routine risk management tasks and fulfilling regulatory reporting requirements.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

  • 6-10 years of demonstrated experience in risk management, quant analytics, portfolio management, or information technology.
  • Broad experience across multiple risk disciplines or a background in technology is preferred (i.e., investment, quant developer, regulatory and counterparty risk).
  • Ability to explain complex ideas in simple but impactful terms in order to influence decisions across the investment teams and supporting functions.
  • Deep experience in investment risk across various asset classes and products will be viewed favorably.
  • Proficiency in scenario analysis, stress-testing, factor models, performance attribution, and other risk-related metrics and tools.
  • A degree in mathematics, quantitative finance, computer science, economics, statistics, engineering or a related quantitative field.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Chinese.
  • Coding skills in R, Python, etc. is preferrable.
