About this role
We are looking for an automation engineer to join the Implementation Services team, working within the Aladdin Platform Group. A person who has a passion for designing best in class automation solutions, while leveraging new technologies to improve procedures & create new processes. This role involves identifying trends and being a problem solver with a proven aptitude for quickly learning new technologies and proprietary systems. You will be a development expert for all implementation services projects related to client builds, migrations, templating, and onboarding.
We have a broad and diverse engineering skillset and are seeking a new team member to join us who will bring development leadership and expertise to the role. Role Responsibility
- Build, update, and maintain tooling that facilitates automated deployment and onboarding of new and existing Aladdin clients / applications hosted in Azure.
- Designing, implementing and working with automated solutions for cloud-based infrastructure.
- Developing or modifying solutions to automate tasks and meet business requirements.
- Contribute to a library of software that enables the smooth operation of BlackRock products.
- Help to suggest and design both short-term and long-term engineering solutions to improve existing operational workflows.
- Build relationships with stakeholders to understand their roles and requirements and clearly communicate with them on progress, challenges, and questions.
- Ensure resilience and stability through quality code reviews, unit and regression testing, and level two production support for owned tools.
- Collaborate with team members in a multi-office, multi-time zone environment.
Skills/Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree specializing in Computer Science, Technology, MIS, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or similar.
- 8+ years of industry experience in an engineering / developer role.
- Experience in a programming language such as Perl, Python, Java or PowerShell and their respective testing modules.
- Exposure to and understanding of cloud ecosystems such as AWS or Azure, including knowledge of their respective APIs for provisioning and monitoring.
- Understanding of Agile work environments, including knowledge of Azure DevOps, GIT and CI/CD.
- Familiarity and adherence to SDLC best practices
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work with teams across geography.
- Create and deliver best practices recommendations, documentation for internal wiki pages, and presentations.
Good to have
- Experience with Linux server environments.
- Experience with configuration management or Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Ansible, as well as AWX.
- Experience with Kubernetes environments.
- Previous experience working in the Financial Services or Technology industry.
