BlackRock is looking for a vice-president to lead our Funds and Oversight team in Mumbai!
The Accounting Services and Oversight (ASO) team sits within the Global Accounting and Product Services (GAAPS) within Technology & Operations. The team is responsible for the production of daily and monthly Accounting Valuations and Portfolio Returns to support BlackRock's Institutional and Fund Accounting businesses across all investment mandates Equity, Fixed Income, Multi-asset Solutions, Fund of Funds, Alternatives. The team partners closely with BlackRock's Operations teams and with the Investment and Client businesses to deliver world-class accounting solutions to our global client base.
Job Purpose/Background
We are looking for an experienced individual who is a self-starter, dedicated and flexible with a strong technical Fund Accounting background and people management experience to lead our Fund Accounting & Oversight team in Mumbai. The successful individual should demonstrate technical precision, flexibility, and the ability to creatively lead multiple activities and deadlines. As a good communicator they will use their influencing skills to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with their counterparts in EMEA and the US. They will run strategic projects to improve our operating model collaborating with internal business and technology partners. They will also demonstrate a commitment to succeed both as an individual and as an extraordinary teammate.
Ideally the candidate will have a background in Fund/Investment Accounting, Accountancy or Provider Management. The position reports to the ASO Head of APAC and is part of a globally distributed team of fund accounting professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- To lead a world class team that delivers exceptional service levels to agreed standards and drive a continuous improvement mentality.
- To be responsible for overseeing our BlackRock Fund, Fund Administrators ensuring accurate net asset values
- To partner with peers to effectively utilize local and global resources to deliver resilient client service while supporting strategic and tactical objectives.
- To promote a relentless focus on improving core service quality through measurable service standards that drive systematic remediation and resolution plans
- To develop the Aladdin Accounting operating environment to streamline the process, improve controls and deliver targeted scale efficiency
- To find opportunities to remove process excess and automate workflow through Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and partner with our technology partners to deliver.
- To drive a data led governance framework and global consistency
- To be aware of applicable product, business and regulatory changes and actively seek involvement in the resultant initiatives and projects.
Knowledge/Experience
- Experience in an operational/accounting role, ideally in a fund management environment.
- Demonstrates technical and regulatory expertise across a range of investment instruments, fund types and products
- Experience of leading and developing high-performing teams to successfully deliver against both individual and team objectives
- Experience of identifying problems and incidents, working proactively with others to resolve them and raise issues appropriately
- Highly numerate and demonstrates a high level of attention to detail
- Prepared to take initiative, work flexibly to help the team achieve its goals, and respond positively to change and
- Takes responsibility for the completion of own work in line with agreed procedures and to resolve conflicting priorities.
