Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all global functional areas within the IRG, including the Global Asset Allocation Committee (GAAC), equity & fixed income research, economist, market strategist, retirement income, manager research and due diligence functions
- Maintain up to date expertise and knowledge sufficient to supervise the broker-dealer investment research function.
- Manage a team of global investment professionals who serve as macro/market, research, due diligence, asset allocation, and investments subject matter experts. Represent the core business philosophy and operating environment for managed accounts and capital markets. Includes managing goals, performance and issues to drive collaboration across.
- Provide broad guidance including cascading key business goals/objectives from executive leadership building consensus across the Research team and ensuring alignment throughout Research leadership ranks.
- Responsible for managing the assigned budget or similar forecast.
- Tactical leadership responsibilities include S16 review and/or S24 principal sign-off of reports and research recommendations/publications and performance management and other supervisory duties for direct and indirect reports.
- Work in conjunction with Compliance, Legal, Risk and business unit resources to continually survey the regulatory and legal environment for investment research and managed product research to ensure written supervisory procedures (WSPs) and desk procedures are fully up to date and compliant. Provide guidance and education to IRG team regarding regulatory trends and requirements.
- Work closely with EVP - WMS on short-range and long-range business planning and direction-setting for all Research functions. This includes driving conversations across the leadership team to drive ideas, demonstrate thought leadership and drive creativity across the team.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 15+ years of investment research / investment product experience including extensive knowledge of financial markets and investment products and structures
- Ability to lead and set research priorities across macroeconomic, equity, fixed income, and manager research functions.
- Ability to lead across the enterprise to align strategies and execute in a matrixed organization.
- Proven ability to develop and execute a strategy
- Proven global people leadership capabilities and experience especially across teams in different geographic locations
- Experience managing a P&L, including revenue forecasting and budgeting skills
- Ability to demonstrate a blend of technical investment research understanding with an equally placed importance on communication and presentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to summarize complex information clearly for senior technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to navigate complex organizations, build relationships and influence peers
- Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience masters preferred.
- Active Series 7 & 24 required
- Series 16, 86 or 87 required however, if you do not have them, you will have the ability to obtain them within a defined period according to Company policy.

- CFA, CFP, CAIA, CIMA
