Job Description

Summary

  • Ares Asia is currently searching for a highly motivated, detail-oriented team player to join as a VP in Ares Asia Credit Group specializing in Asset Management and Investor Relations for their offices in Asia, with a Pan-Asian presence, Ares Asia, headquartered in Hong Kong is one of the largest credit-focused alternative investment managers in Asia-Pacific, leveraging its broad geographical footprint, extensive infrastructure in the region and the experience of its team that has invested through multiple economic cycles in Asia, Ares Asia makes credit, private equity and special situations investment through its local originating presence across Asia-Pacific on behalf of its institutional client base.
  • This individual will be working closely with the HK-based Asset Management and Investor Relations group to provide investor relations and presentation support, monitoring of allocated portfolio of investments in conjunction with investment teams across Asia and Australia, addressing investor information requests and market/competitor research analysis. He/she must have strong organizational, interpersonal, quantitative and analytical skills and must be able to meet deadline requirements.

Primary responsibilities

  • The VP will work in the Asian Credit group and support senior leadership in Asset Management / Investor Relations in providing information and expertise on firm strategies and investment performance to clients. The individual will assist in producing fund reporting for investors on a monthly, quarterly and ad hoc basis, as well as updating market and fund specific data within existing materials.
  • The VP role will also have team management responsibilities as a Team Lead in addition to the requirements mentioned below.
  • The incumbent will handle certain distinct allocated list of investments and shall perform the following activities for that account. The Team shall have the following responsibilities

Asset Management

  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and year-end fund reporting materials as well as ad-hoc requests
  • Maintain the Ares Asia Direct Lending / Secured Loan Obligations / Special Sits investment track record and performance analytics
  • Collaborate and develop strong working relationships with all internal subject matter experts of the Firm (portfolio management, business development, Finance and operations)
  • Data Integrity and Analysis Ensure that data properly flows from various systems and troubleshoot issues
  • Undertake valuation of various investments, evaluate and revise the methodologies as the investments develop and evolve during the life cycle of investment, draft/finalize valuation commentaries and reports in conjunction with the portfolio managers.
  • Conduct stress tests / sensitivity analysis of the portfolio based on various macro events
  • Undertake business improvement and transformation projects to improve the asset management function for Ares Asia

Investor Relations (IR)

  • Interface and develop strong working relationships with all internal subject matter experts of the Firm (primarily Asset Management and Finance, as well as Operations, Legal, Compliance)
  • Produce monthly/quarterly portfolio reports for investors, working with investment team, Finance and Asset Management teams to collate relevant data
  • Support the IR team at head office to create responses to investor questionnaires, due diligence and ad hoc requests for existing and potential investors
  • Take on ad hoc projects and support all other teammates with their work as needed

Education

  • 13 + years of relevant experience with strong academic performance

Experience Required

  • Fixed income or loan/credit experience required
  • Experience in handling team
