Valuations Analyst SLC Management
What is in it for you
Reporting to the Managing Director, Valuations, the successful candidate will be responsible for executing the securities valuations process with a focus on private fixed income, mortgages and derivatives. The ideal candidate is a motivated transformational change agent responsible for overseeing efficient and effective operational processes that support all downstream consumers of valuation data including external clients. Success in this role will require a high degree of collaboration, attention to detail, commitment to accurately completing daily processes and controls along with experience working with the various 3rd party valuation providers across all asset classes.
The Valuations Analyst will support the Valuations team broadly in establishing a centralized process to ensure the completeness and accuracy of our securities valuations.
What you will do
- Perform independent valuations on securities ranging from basic to highly complex instruments such as structured products, and illiquid assets
- Review third party vendor valuation output and work with external valuation experts as needed
- Document valuation procedures, assumptions, and conclusions clearly and concisely for financial reporting and audit purposes
- Analyze market data such as prices, yields, volatilities, and correlations to determine appropriate inputs into valuation models
- Ensure an adequate control environment is maintained to identify price challenges, stale prices, missing prices, and to review day over day price changes proactively
- Communicate to a wide variety of audiences at all organizational levels
- Develop creative client-centered solutions, multiple alternatives and approaches
- Address process breakdowns quickly, identifies the source of problem, and develops solutions that eliminate wasted effort and inefficiencies across teams
- Assess complex issues from multiple angles to get the complete picture
- Demonstrate ownership for outcomes and uses positive influence to achieve the right results
What you will need to succeed
- 3+ years of experience performing securities valuations for financial reporting, transactions, or portfolio management
- Business acumen and decision-making - Makes sound decisions and takes effective and timely action that fully reflects the business purpose implications and context of the work produced and/or managed. Makes and promotes sound decisions concerning matters with significant strategic or financial implications
- Technical Skills - experience with Excel, pivot tables and formulas such as LOOKUP / Index / Match and others of a similar expertise level.
- Experience with Aladdin/Blackrock, Bloomberg, Remote Plus, VBA, Excel macros, SQL and other tools a plus
- Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Self-motivated and works under continual deadline pressure in high-paced environment.
- Graduate degree in Finance, Math, Computer Science, Data Science or any other related field of study is a plus.
