Position Overview
Apollo is seeking a Payroll Manager to join its Human Capital team based in London. In this newly created role, the individual will take responsibility for the management of the entire UK payroll.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsibility for managing the end to end payroll and partner payment processing activities for the UK jurisdiction.
- Work collaboratively with other business areas, in particular, Benefits, Tax, Finance and Global Mobility.
- Manage relationship with outsourced payroll providers, including running regular reports on performance and ensuring delivery is happening in line with agreed SLAs.
- Maintaining accurate and complete payroll records, including monthly reconciliations against internal data and HMRC's records.
- Developing and implementing payroll policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Maintain and improve data integrity and accuracy in payroll systems, implementing appropriate audit controls and ensuring these are consistently followed.
- Driving process standardisation and continuous improvement across our payrolls. Staying up to date with changes in local laws and regulations that affect payroll operations
Qualifications & Experience
- 8 - 10 years' experience of running UK payrolls. Must have hands on experience as well as managing.
- CIPP qualified.
- Experience of LLPs preferable.
- Workday platform experience preferable.
- Payroll onboarding and transition experience.
- Experience of managing outsourced suppliers.
- Experience in process optimisation, new country development and automation of payroll processes.
- Expert understanding of UK payroll and PAYE, including statutory payments, tax codes, NIC earnings periods, treatment of payrolling of benefits, notional payments/RSUs, post P45 payments, FPS adjustments etc.
- Understanding of issues in respect of globally mobile employees, e.g. s690s, A1s, Appendix 5, modified payrolls.
- Experience of managing employer pension auto-enrolment duties.
- Ability to problem solve and comfortable dealing with queries from stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy in processing and managing payroll data.
