What is the opportunity?

As the Senior Application Technical Support Engineer, you are responsible for the overall IT services to RBC Tokyo Platforms within the Tokyo office, enabling technology to support their products and services. This position provides hand-on support, lead for the team in RBC Tokyo IT, report to Head of IT Japan.

What will you do?

  • Assist and raise global application support for Fixed Income, Equity Links, Structured products, Futures and Bank related system.
  • Work with RBC global counterparts to initiate the planning, execution and testing for the business, Technology requirements, Infra relates projects.
  • Receives and monitors helpdesk requests and ensures tickets are responded to promptly, with the correct priority and appropriate follow-up to the user community.
  • Manage user request and incident tracking.
  • Installs, configures, and troubleshoots desktops and server hardware, peripherals, operating systems, firm software, and local third-party systems.
  • Take a responsibility for emergency night/weekend call-out with other IT members.
  • Administer, manage and resolve requests/incidents relating to End User Services.
  • Support IT infrastructure at Japan sites includes Data Center offsite. Maintain local platforms at high standards with high availability.
  • Provide consultation to project groups, application teams and business on new initiatives.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • University degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years' experience in Investment Banking and/or Bank industry
  • 7+ years' experience in managing and supporting Windows Desktop
  • 3+ years' experience in managing and supporting Tech infrastructure, e.g. Wintel / Unix servers, Network, Voice, DBA, Middleware, etc
  • Sales/Trading system application support internally/externally
  • Basic knowledge of ITIL Framework
  • Good working knowledge or exposure data centers, telecom and internet technology
  • Experience in communicating with users face to face and over the phone
  • Ability to work in a team and be a team player
  • Maintains a keen interest in new technology trends and platforms
  • Fluent in Japanese and English (both speaking and writing)

Nice-to-have

  • ITIL Foundation Certificate/ CCNA network Certificate/ MCP Microsoft Certificate
  • Good fundamental knowledge on computer room design, structured cabling, front end/backend client services and platforms
  • Project Management experience and fundamental knowledge of life cycle
