What Youll Do

We're looking for a Senior Associate Accountant to join our Benefits & Protection team. In this role, you'll have a mix of compiling the information and support necessary to make ledger journal entries, analyzing and reporting insurance operational results, and identifying and executing process improvement opportunities!

  • Provides subject matter expert (SME) guidance on various topics such as subsidiary reporting andinternal management reports
  • Assist with the monthly and quarter financial statement close process through posting and validating journal entries, preparing financial statement memos, reconciling balances, and completing analysis on results.
  • Prepare regular reports and reconciliations on insurance and reinsurance entities for management. This might involve variance analysis, trend analysis, and creating financial dashboards.
  • Collaborate with business partners to ensure accounting and internal control objectives are met through the design and implementation of new products and/or systems. Carry out testing to ensure the system or process is operating as intended and escalate findings/variances/issues as needed.
  • Leverage data analytics and querying tools to streamline processes of collecting, reconciling, and consolidating financial reporting data and results
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues in reinsurance, subsidiaries, and internal management teams

Who You Are

  • Bachelors degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience required
  • 2+ years relevant accounting experience preferred

  • Reinsurance experience is

  • CPA or other applicable certifications preferred

Work Environments

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You'll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
