About this role
Purpose/Background
BlackRock is currently seeking an institutional relationship manager based in Cape Town to work with the Head of the Africa business, to support the existing official institutional clients in Africa as well as develop and manage new institutional relationships in Africa. The RM will be the central point of contact for official institutional clients. The RM will be responsible for delivering the broad BlackRock offering including index equities, active equities, fixed income, private capital, real estate, infrastructure, and alternative assets. In doing so, he or she will lead the client dialogue with respect to BlackRock's investment offerings, whole portfolio solutions capabilities, co-investment opportunities and product development, helping to drive business and client strategy working with the Head of Africa
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationships
- All aspects of sales coverage, including maintaining and further developing relationships
- Facilitate strategic dialogue by understanding the client's needs and coordinating internal teams to help our clients and prospects understand industry trends and geopolitical developments
- Host client meetings
- Contribute to account planning for Strategic clients, follow-up on commercial growth and budgeting
Regional strategy
- Support the Head of the Africa in refining and developing the vision for BlackRocks Africa business
- Focus on expanding BlackRock Africa's OI client footprint across Central Banks and Pensions,
- Oversight and collaborations with our Institutional intimidated coverage teams to ensure cohesive client-Consultant/Asset Manager support.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of BlackRock's product offering, market activities, and sales and marketing strategy this includes the continued development of a strong client portfolio and a diversified book of business across multiple sub-segments
- Work with all distribution channels to help build plans to exceed NNBF and NNB targets
Knowledge / Experience
Qualifications and Experience
- Strong academic qualifications
- A strong understanding of capital markets, gained in asset and/or wealth management, investment banking, the insurance sector, and/or related segments of the financial services industry
- Ability and willingness to demonstrate strong sense of ownership towards delivering to clients

- The ability to articulate complex investment processes to a diverse client audience is critical and
- He or she will be a good listener with strong communication skills, applied internally and externally to information gathering, influencing and negotiating
