Scope and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be an integral member of the fund accounting team providing support to Oaktree's European Senior Loan strategy. You will primarily be responsible for assisting the Senior Vice President in the coordination, supervision, and review of the accounting records maintained by a variety of third-party administrators, custodians, and other service providers in support of the strategies' investment portfolios.
Fund structures consist primarily of closed-ended funds domiciled in the Republic of Ireland with scope for funds in other European jurisdictions. The European Senior Loan investment strategy is dominated by European Collateralised Loan Obligations (CLOs) that are currently managed by Oaktree. Since 2016, Oaktree's European CLO book of business has grown from 4 CLOs with an AUM of $1.6 billion to 12 CLOs with an AUM of $4.4 billion. In addition the London office has launched 2 CLO Risk Retention vehicles which invest in the subordinated debt of Oaktree managed CLOs.
Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following activities
- Performing, review and oversight of the
- monthly and quarterly closing process
- Performing, review and oversight of the
- daily
- Assist with the review and oversight of the work performed by third-party back office support administrators
- Ensuring appropriate accounting recognition for corporate actions and security restructurings
- Monitor inter-company cash flows, capital calls, expense payments and accruals and follow capped expense guidelines
- Reviewing and/or preparing schedules for regulatory filings (AIFMD Annex IV, Form PF and CRS)
- Reviewing and/or preparing quarterly and annual financial statements prepared in accordance with U.K. GAAP and/or IFRS as required per the terms of the entity
- Coordinating the annual financial statement audit and fieldwork with external auditors
- Calculating fund and client specific performance
- Coordination of internal and external communications and reporting for fund openings and closings (drawdowns) and client distributions
Experience required
- 5+ years experience with 2+ years working within an accounting department for an asset manager preferred.
- Experience performing complex reconciliations with a strong knowledge of the fundamentals of investment fund accounting (associated journal entries) and an ability to think through the investment process
- Accounting experience with traditional fixed income securities, bank debt/loans, equities, and fx hedging transactions
- Working knowledge of various fund structures such as CLOs, Risk Retention vehicles and Stand Alone funds
- Candidate must have strong Excel and knowledge of financial formulae, including some modelling experience
- Experience with Advent Geneva and Advent Geneva World Investor an advantage

Education
- Bachelor's degree is required and a Chartered Accountant or equivalent qualification is preferred
