What is the Opportunity?

The Senior Director and Head, US Cyber and Technology Risk Management is responsible for leading governance and oversight of the cyber and technology risk management practices across RBC's US operations. Responsible for independent risk management governance activities including regional risk appetite, enhancing, and evolving regional governance documents, providing oversight and challenge of the first line of defense risk management activities, and owning IT risk appetite across all US entities.

What will you do?

Develop and set the vision for IT and Cyber Risk management in the US aligned with the Operational Risk strategy.

Oversee IT risk management practices covering all facets of the IT Risk Framework (including Cyber Security), provide interpretation and counsel on policies, and challenge existing risk management practices in RBC's Global Capital Markets business and across RBC's US operations.

Own quarterly risk reporting to senior management and the Board of the IHC

Ensure enterprise-wide policies meet the diverse requirements of the region provide assurances of compliance while minimizing adverse impact to business operations.

Function as primary leader for Independent Cyber and Technology Risk Management with multiple US regulators building and enhancing relationships.

Chair the US IT Risk Management committee and provide IT risk management leadership in other steering and governance committees.

Liaise with industry peers to develop insights into leading IT Risk management practices.

Work directly with the executive leadership team in technology and the business to embed an understanding of the current IT Risk profile.

Provide IT Risk policy interpretation to first line of defense and advise them on the development of standards and procedures that align with policy to ensure key risks are mitigated.

Owns the US specific risk appetite statements and measures.

Lead a team of senior cyber and technology risk professionals and drive a culture of integrity in line with RBC's code of conduct.

Develop and establish effective monitoring practices to ensure adherence to the IT risk management framework and policy and assist business in the identification of issues.

Represent the global Cyber and Technology Risk team across the US.

Foster strong stakeholder relationships to enable active and collaborative working relationships.

Provide thought leadership on all aspects of Cyber and Technology Risk management.

What do you need to succeed?

A minimum of 15 years of experience in progressively responsible IT risk management roles in a global financial services organization

Undergraduate degree in business

Strong leadership skills

Solid understanding of a Capital Markets business,

Strategic mindset, with excellent knowledge and understanding of the financial industry.

Board and Senior Management presentation skills

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Highly developed ability for conceptual thinking

Proven track record of building strong relationships across business functions.

Well-developed impact and influence skills

Experience in an independent risk management role preferred

15+ years of experience in the financial services sector preferred

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $190,000 - $325,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status market conditions and business needs.This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance and paid time-off plan.
