Responsibilities

  • Manage accounting and reporting (monthly, quarterly and annual) processes for derivatives, seed money, low-income housing, other equity-type investments for Ameriprise and its subsidiaries.
  • Review and approval of work performed by other team members and includes oversight of daily derivatives reconciliation process, set up new investments and derivatives, general entry approval, accounting reconciliation approval, monthly/quarterly management and external/regulatory reporting.
  • Lead monthly process for reporting corporate assets under management, assets owned and related transfer pricing process.
  • Prepare quarterly bank holding company reporting submissions.
  • Partner with management to proactively seek innovation and process improvements to enhance efficiencies and improve controls of processes.
  • Prepare/review investment data for inclusion in rating agency surveys
  • Provide direct people leadership to team members and oversight of work direction to a global resource. This includes providing performance feedback and coach as well as seeking professional development opportunities for each.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field
  • 7+ years of related experience in derivative and investment accounting, including 2+ years of demonstrated leadership
  • Strong business knowledge of derivatives and investments including GAAP and statutory accounting treatment
  • Proven ability to lead through change and strong ability to problem solve
  • Ability to handle detailed work analyze results, yet understand the big picture
  • Strong understanding of systems, controls, accounting knowledge, financials, and processes within multiple legal entities.
