What Youll Do

Principal has a great opportunity within our Sales Compensation Technology team which is housed within of our Benefits and Protection business segment! We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer who will thrive in a highly collaborative product centric environment. In this position you will work closely with your technology team peers, business partners and product owner to deliver value focusing primarily on customer relationship management and customer service representative experience capabilities supporting our operations staff and Distribution Partners. The ideal candidate will have direct experience with Salesforce and enjoys working with this platform but also experience with other distributed technologies such as AWS/cloud technology, front-end development tools/frameworks or service oriented/event driven architectures.

Here in Sales Compensation Technology we serve a critical role in the onboarding, servicing, payment and reporting functions for our Distribution Partners all in close collaboration with our internal business partners. Your day will be filled with

  • Collaborating with your team and our business to determine how to make our software solutions better with every iteration.

Who You Are

  • Associate or bachelor's degree (preference in a computer science, technology, engineering or math-related field) or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of professional Salesforce development experience is required including administration functions and ideally Apex development or exposure.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, decision-making and communication skills.
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Must have the desire to learn new technology and continuously grow.
  • Ability to work on cross-functional teams and collaborate with both IT and non-IT partners.

Additional preferred skills/experience

  • Current and maintained Salesforce certifications in admin, developer or architecture tracks.
  • Proficiency in Java or JavaScript or other distributed/OO languages.
  • Familiarity with cloud development and integrations. We use AWS, but open to other experience.
  • Strong understanding and preference for automated testing.
  • Exposure to Service Oriented/Event based architectures.
  • Development experience leveraging other distributed tools beyond Salesforce (Java/Typescript, other OO languages etc.).
