Job SummaryUnder direct supervision, uses extensive knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience, to assist with the generation of investment ideas consistent with small and/or mid cap portfolio objectives. Assists a portfolio manager by preparing industry and company research by collecting, organizing, and analyzing data, writing investment-related research reports, and creating/maintaining financial models. Identifies, researches, analyzes, and resolves moderately complex issues.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with the collection of fundamental research on related companies within assigned industries.
  • Compiles data about assigned industries and companies.
  • Performs quantitative analysis of macroeconomic variables that impact the industry.
  • Assists in preparation of written industry and company specific reports.
  • Assists in development of financial models for revenue and income forecasts.
  • Makes investment recommendations to portfolio manager with respect to companies in assigned industries.
  • Assist in product education and marketing with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of

  • Companys working structure, policies, mission, and strategies.
  • Strong concepts, practices and procedures of research analysis.
  • Strong investment concepts, practices and procedures used in the securities industry.
  • Principles of banking and finance and securities industry operations.
  • Financial markets and products.
  • Detailed working knowledge of corporate finance and financial statement analysis.
  • Experience with credit analysis, including corporate, government and agency debt, as well as ABS, CMO, CMBS analysis for evaluating balance sheets of small cap and mid cap financial companies.

Skill in

  • Quantitative and analytical skills sufficient to assist in the development of corporate financial projections and equity valuation metrics.
  • Identifying relationships, draw logical conclusions, and interpret results.
  • Preparing and delivering clear, effective, and professional presentations.
  • Using technical/professional knowledge, interpersonal and sales skills to obtain customers commitment to ideas, services, or products.
  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications to produce documents such as reports, graphics, electronic communication, spreadsheets, and databases.

  • Read, interpret, analyze and apply information from industry data
  • Organize, manage, and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with critical deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree (B.A.) in Finance, Accounting or Business and a minimum of three (3) years of research experience in the financial services industry.

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) I designation.
