Position Overview

The international tax team is looking for a Remuneration Tax Associate to join the European business. The Remuneration Tax Associate role sits within Apollo's International Tax function. Reporting directly to the Remuneration Tax Director, the professional would be part of a growing in-house tax department covering tax planning, investment structuring, remuneration taxation and compliance and reporting functions across the management group and the funds. The professional would work closely with personnel across the business including investment professionals and members of finance, legal, regulatory compliance and human resources teams.The professional will work with the Remuneration Tax Director and our external advisers to help ensure we are operating within local tax laws and regulations in respect of our compensation and remuneration matters, and provide advisory support to the business including

  • Provide guidance and support to the business regarding the tax treatment and structuring of compensation and remuneration plans across our international locations ranging from expense and benefits, through to our equity and carried interest and co-investment plans.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as HC and Legal on tax issues in respect of the lifecycle of our international population including entering new territories, international relocations and business travel, employment status of workers, onboarding and offboarding etc.
  • Manage Partnership remuneration tax issues specific to the UK LLP business structure.

Given the diverse range of jurisdictions and taxes covered and departments supported by the international tax team, the role offers a huge opportunity for learning from a tax technical and business perspective, working with some of the top advisers in the industry.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the development of remuneration policies, including structuring and delivery of policies compliant with UK and international tax rules.
  • Provide support and guidance to internal stakeholders on business decisions which may have an impact on the taxation of our various compensation components (e.g. benefits, expenses, incentive plans etc.) across our international jurisdictions.
  • Support on tax/social security aspects of international movement of Apollo individuals.
  • Completion of compliance matters relating to compensation and remuneration filings such as Form 42, P11D, PSA, Appendix 4 etc.
  • Assistance with internal partnership and Industry specific compliance and advisory work e.g. onshore/offshore analysis, salaried member rule calculations, DIMF rules, IBCI checks etc.
  • Assist with projects around improvement of tax processes and governance.
  • Act as an escalation point to provide technical support and guidance to Apollo Payroll.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills are vital. Role requires individual to be able to balance multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent UK tax technical knowledge, either CTA or ACA qualified or part qualified preferred.
  • The individual must be collaborative as the role will involve liaison with both internal and external counterparties.
  • Experience in or with the Asset Management or Private Equity industry preferred.
  • Given the broadness of the role, candidates from a variety of backgrounds will be considered, including but not limited to

    • Expatriate Tax including those with US personal tax experience /dual handlers.
    • Partnership Tax
    • Funds Tax
