Summary

The Release Management Assistant Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of software releases within the Firm. They will work closely with cross-functional teams, including development, testing, and operations, to ensure smooth and efficient release processes. The Assistant Manager establishes release schedules, manages release documentation, and coordinates communication and training efforts. They also monitor and report on release progress, identify and mitigate risks, and implement continuous improvement strategies for release management processes. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills are essential for this role. Additionally, this role requires the management of a team, both locally and remotely, assigning these team members to projects, overseeing their daily tasks, and optimizing their talent to maximize productivity.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage risks and resolve challenges affecting release scope, quality, and schedules.
  • Manage a team of analysts and engineers both locally and remotely.
  • Demonstrate and socialize through the practice of the Release Management process.
  • Plan release windows and cycles across portfolios and components.
  • Coordinate processes between different teams, possibly in various locations.
  • Communicate crucial release plans, changes, and necessary details to business teams.
  • Measure and monitor progress to achieve timely software releases within defined budgetary and quality standards.
  • Initiate and oversee progressive release processes, ensuring alignment with major vendors and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Excellent programming skills and experience.
  • Proficiency in software infrastructure management and configuration management.
  • Expert understanding of the software development lifecycle.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, and structured thinking skills.
  • Experience in coordinating cross-functional work teams to task completion.
  • Experience in managing people and direct reports.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience required.
  • 2+ years of experience with project or release management required.

Systems & Technology

  • Experience with SDLC software such as JIRA.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies, and ITIL practices.
