What is the opportunity?
RBC Global Asset Management (RBC GAM) is a North American-based asset management firm with global scope and industry-leading investment management capabilities. The Quantitative Research Group (QRG), RBC GAM, is a dynamic and collaborative team that excels in providing advanced solutions for complex trading and portfolio management problems. We have an immediate need for a software engineer to join our group and play an active part in the development, maintenance and innovation of the fixed income portfolio analytics and model research platforms built by the QRG. The fixed income portfolio analytics platform is the backbone of RBC GAM Vancouver fixed income trading desk portfolio management operations and the model research platform assists our portfolio managers with broad strategy premium research. What will you do?
- Develop and renovate applications within our fixed income portfolio analytics and model research platforms
- Prototype and develop solutions for complex trading and portfolio management problems
- Provide leadership in programming best practices and/or adoption of new technology and tools
- Perform daily support to ensure timely and reliable delivery of portfolio analytics to support the investment management process and trading decisions
- Work within our high-performing, diverse, multi-disciplinary Quantitative Research Group
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
- An undergraduate degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or proven track record in the software development industry
- Strong software development skills in Python and/or C#
- Domain-driven system design capability and experience
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Attention to detail and capability to solve complex problems
- Willingness to troubleshoot problems and deliver timely support
- An interest to learn about fixed income portfolio management
Nice to Have
- A strong interest in finance and experience in the investment industry
- Other computer skills including experience in SQL, Matlab, C++, Excel/VBA or Bloomberg.
- CFA Charter holder or the desire to pursue CFA designation.
- Strong mathematical skills
- Experience with agile software development
- Minimum 3 years of work experience

The expected salary range for the above position is $90,000
115,000, depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate
