Job Description
NOTE This role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means theres an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days. Office locations Minneapolis, Charlotte, Cincinnati and Columbus.
This position is an individual contributor role residing in the Bank's Enterprise Financial Crime Compliance (EFCC) organization. This individual will work within a small team of Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) analysts on the Design and Execution team who are responsible for quality control of model and tool code. The team plays a central role in the maintenance and improvement of the Bank's Anti-Money Laundering Transaction Monitoring systems. The quality control function includes both a primary role of ensuring accurate implementation of the code's documented intent, as well as identification of conceptual or quantitative challenges in model design.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a keen eye for code review, expertise in developing and refining code review processes, and familiarity with SAS, SQL, and Python. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to provide have strong quantitative data science and/or model development skills. Exceptional candidates will also have prior experience with BSA/AML monitoring applications, project management software such as Jira, and experience in model review or validation.
It is expected that this individual will be highly self-motivated, organized, and an effective manager of time with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Work efforts will include execution of BAU code reviews including both Code Change approvals and end-to-end Code Reviews of new models, as well as providing guidance on the ongoing improvement of the code base. Additionally, this position will be involved in the design of new processes to support these functions such as development of code repositories, intake processes, and documentation of good coding practices.
Professional communication skills are crucial as this individual will be expected to collaborate closely across the FIU and represent the FIU Analytics team to senior leadership, Model Risk Management, and internal and external auditors.
Essential Functions
Conduct comprehensive code reviews for AML Transaction Monitoring models, ensuring adherence to coding standards and identifying areas for improvement.
Conduct code change reviews in response to business need to ensure the bank's risk apparatus is responsive to design changes.
Provide actionable feedback to code owners in a constructive manner.
Collaborate closely across FIU partner teams to enhance code functionality and streamline processes.
Identify opportunities for ongoing improvement of code review processes to improve the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the team.
Provide valuable insights and problem-solving expertise in code improvement and centralization initiatives.
Develop and maintain a strong understanding of industry best practices and regulatory expectations related to AML systems.
Partner with team members in the Financial Intelligence Unit to become familiar with various transaction monitoring applications, approaches, and processes.
Possess an awareness of financial services related regulatory compliance environments as well as an interest to self-educate on new topics and changing requirements.
Construct and present materials for audiences including but not limited to senior leadership, model risk management, corporate audit, regulatory and business partners.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, and eight or more years of relevant experience
Preferred Skills/Experience
Proficient in SAS, SQL, and Python or other similar programming languages
Significant experience in code review processes
Strong quantitative skills in data science, statistics, or a similar discipline
BSA/AML Transaction Monitoring model experience preferred
Proficient in Git or similar code repository/version control systems
Excellent problem-solving skills with a drive for continuous improvement
Familiarity with Jira or other project management frameworks preferred
Experience with the development and documentation of formal procedures preferred
