The Opportunity
We're growing our investment in the New Business space supporting order entry and underwriting applications. To help us achieve our mission, we are hiring a Product Owner to work across the New Business & Underwriting stack. Our ideal Product Owner candidate is team-oriented and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. They should possess a hybrid of business acumen and customer centricity to support new and emerging opportunities in the New Business & Underwriting space. Our Product Owner will work closely with vendor partners and Business Analysts to develop and review agile stories, to manage roadmap and requirements and to prioritize backlogs across stakeholders from multiple business units. This is an opportunity to work in a fast paced, innovative, and collaborative environment on exciting strategic initiatives. This individual will manage New Business solutions from concept to implementation.
The Impact
- Maximize the value of the products created by the team.
- Communicate with stakeholders, vendor partners, business managers, and working teams to make sure the goals are clear, and the vision is aligned with business objectives.
- Represent the customers voice and create a product vision together with the stakeholders. Every decision is driven with the product vision in mind.
- Works with New Business & Underwriting team, subject matter experts, stakeholders, and vendor partners to perform business analysis to triage incoming demand including coordination of sizing and requirements and sequencing for execution.
- Facilitates the agile ceremonies to ensure the team's success.
- Establish mechanism and cadence to keep stakeholders informed.
- Responsible for the financials associated with vendor driven SOWs & contracts.
- Grooms and understands the product backlog and drives priority through risk, value, learning opportunities and dependencies.
- Identifies and escalates risks, issues, and blockers for active projects and drives mitigation planning.
- Refines the Product Backlog by adding detail, estimates and establishes priority to items in the backlog in partnership with initiators of the demand.
- Knows how and when to say no. Manages expectations in order to create a backlog with items that will likely get realized excluding waste'.
- Assist with development of requirements to support existing platforms and create new capabilities to improve the end user experience.
- Involved in planning and supporting business process to identify go to market strategies for new products and services.
- Helps define and drive design concepts partnering with the design team based on business specifications.
- Utilizes the agile tool set to monitor the progress and capacity of the team and adjust when necessary.
The Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in a product owner, project management, or similar role

The Ideal Qualifications
- Agile/SCRUM experience specifically in Story/Acceptance criteria development

- Knowledge or experience with Order Entry & Underwriting applications.
