What is the opportunity?

The incumbent will be responsible for the product vision, establishment, communication, stakeholder management and product success within RBC Investor Services (IS). They will own the product and the backlog of assigned future products/programs on behalf of the Business Intelligence team and works closely with an Agile development team.

What will you do?

  • Owns the responsibility for building the right product and to be the voice of the customer (e.g. external customer, internal operations user, etc.) to the team
  • Validates the underlying value assumptions (why should this product exist, what problems does it solve, should these problems be solved)
  • To ensure optimal Feature delivery, the product owner collaborates with the Stakeholder(s) to align to features and outcomes
  • Participate in sprint planning and owns the product backlog for a low-medium complexity product being developed by the team on behalf of the line of business they represent
  • Perform typical product owner duties on lower complexity initiatives, collaborate with a senior product owner on higher complexity initiatives in support of the design, development and delivery of their product
  • Success in this role is measured in terms of maximizing ROI and customer satisfaction
  • Developing product recommendations based on customer feedback, User experience (UX) interpretation of customer feedback, commercial/technical/legal assessments, and leveraging their own domain of experience
  • Ensuring the right product is built, creating user/customer value while meeting the needs of the LoB stakeholders for a product
  • Understanding the strategy and product roadmap to ensure product backlog prioritization is in alignment with the roadmap timing of customer facing features/functionality

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 3-4 years of product management or agile development experience, two of which are in relevant product/service domain
  • Business experience, preferably within the financial industry and relevant line of business
  • Experience with the agile process
  • Undergraduate Degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Stakeholder Management Building effective relationships by understanding key partner needs and demonstrating integrity and professionalism
  • Proficiency with development or project management tools like JIRA, Confluence

Nice- to- have

  • Agile Framework and Practice Working within and implementing the principles of agile methodology
  • Business Analysis Knowledge and ability to apply the principles of business analysis for planning and requirement gathering
  • Competitive Knowledge Using knowledge of competitors and their products and services to gain an organizational advantage
  • Product Development Using market information to guide the design and development of products/services/offerings
