Position Description

Develops applications within Cloud environments Amazon Web Services (AWS) - and supports AWS Cloud migrations. Delivers and improves Platform as a Service (PaaS) capabilities using software solutions and frameworks. Triages software issues to inform product design and support. Provides end-to-end delivery using Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) practices. Provides software application support for production and non-production environments using monitors and alerts tools - Splunk, Dynatrace, Data Dog, and AWS Cloudwatch. Supports production environments for software applications built on technology components - Java, Tomcat, Oracle, and Informatica.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Improves and maintains system performance using scripting tools - Shell, Perl, and Python.
  • Deploys highly automated, scalable, and maintainable technical infrastructure using messaging technologies - Kafka and TIBCO Enterprise Message Service.
  • Investigates and resolves system-generated alerts and user-raised incidents within Linux and UNIX environments.
  • Executes and improves Web Services administration and support experiences using Apache Tomcat.
  • Confers with data process or project managers to obtain information on limitations or capabilities for data processing projects.
  • Confers with systems analysts and other software engineers and developers to design systems.
  • Obtains information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.
  • Consults with team on new database technology, product roadmaps, and delivery.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing and monitoring AWS infrastructure using Splunk, Dynatrace, DataDog, and AWS Cloudwatch.

Or, alternatively, Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing and monitoring AWS infrastructure using Splunk, Dynatrace, DataDog, and AWS Cloudwatch.

Skills and Knowledge

Candidate must also possess

  • Demonstrated Expertise (DE) performing full stack development in a financial services, Information Technology (IT) product development, and AWS environment, using Angular, Java, Spring Boot, and RDBMS and analyzing, designing, developing, and testing scalable Cloud based software applications.
  • DE providing production and non-production technical database support - triaging, resolving, and providing root cause analysis - in an integrated asset management trading environment, using OEM and Automatic Workload Repository (AWR) tools and mining and analyzing Oracle database level data and server log files - core dumps, Golden Gate database replication, Linux OS alert, and Oracle trace files and alert logs.
  • DE collaborating with external vendors for the technology lifecycle management, hotfixes, and debugging issues for vendor products and applying fixes using Concourse, Jenkins, S3, Lambda, UNIX shell scripts, PERL, and Quality Assurance (QA) Automation frameworks.
  • DE developing, architecting, and managing Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline to reduce manual efforts and increase automation, using Python, Angular, Ansible, and DI Framework and creating ad hoc utilities for database table and file comparison, and locating dynamic data for automation.
