Job Description
The Manager, Finance will join BAM's Global Financial Reporting team and report to the Vice President, Finance with a focus on supporting the team on key technical matters. Located in our head office in Downtown Toronto, the Manager, Finance role is a visible position that provides a solid foundation and exposure to a progressive and dynamic career with a leading global asset management firm. The Manager will take a leading role in assessing and concluding on key technical accounting matters across the global BAM organization as well as take on key responsibilities associated with quarterly and annual financial reporting processes and certain ad hoc special projects as they arise.
Responsibilities
- Take a leading role working with the Vice President Finance in the resolution of complex technical accounting matters including the coordination and resolution with auditors and the operating business groups
- Assist in the preparation of BAM's consolidated financial statements and public disclosure documents on a quarterly and annual basis, specifically focused on ensuring compliance with relevant accounting guidance and related disclosures
- Assist in the production and review of financial reporting deliverables provided to the Board and senior management
- Support internal and external audit teams in relation to quarterly reviews, the annual audit and SOX compliance
- Collaborate regularly with operating business groups and various BAM departments
- Continuously look for efficiency in our processes, tools and reports and make suggestions to implement these into our framework
- Assist as needed with due diligence related to capital market activity, ad-hoc analyses and presentations on financial and operating results, investor queries and special projects
Qualifications & Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive work experience in an accounting or auditing function
- A recognized professional accounting designation (CPA, CA)
- Experience with SEC public company reporting requirements under US GAAP
- Strong technical financial accounting knowledge (US GAAP Preferred)
- Leadership and interpersonal skills, and the willingness to always support the team
- Highly organized and able to work in a dynamic, complex and fast-paced environment, as well as adapt quickly to manage changing priorities and deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated and pro-active, with respect to both managing workload and professional development
- Knowledge of HFM, and Workiva would be an asset
