BlackRocks Global Compliance Department protects BlackRocks reputation and provides advice to the business focused on ensuring the protection of our clients best interests. Role Description
An exciting new opportunity has become available for Compliance specialist position within our Compliance team in Luxembourg.
The Compliance team is responsible for ensuring that BlackRock operates locally in compliance with applicable laws and regulation, and for providing qualitative compliance advice to the various business divisions in respect of activities, products and services within the EMEA region. The Compliance team works in partnership with other BlackRock functions and businesses across EMEA, to support the regulatory risks and compliance of our fund offerings across multiple jurisdictions.
The role involves the provision of compliance support for the Luxembourg Management Company as well as EMEA client businesses within BlackRock, with a particular emphasis on the Luxembourg, Belgium and French businesses.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional with a background in Compliance, Legal or other control function or governance role, having gained at least 4 years relevant experience, with a strong understanding of compliance role and obligations, investment products and services, particularly AIFMD and other fund structures as well as UCITS and MiFID requirements.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent technical skills with a strong personality, combining energy, enthusiasm, resilience, tenacity and diplomacy. A strong motivation to develop their knowledge and skills is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Working with the head of the team and country compliance officers with a particular focus on, Luxembourg, Belgium and French markets to provide high quality regulatory advice on local and cross-border matters.
- Keeping abreast of current and new regulatory developments.
- Supporting the management company operations within Luxembourg.
- Ensuring the appropriate oversight and monitoring of the Luxembourgish Management Company with a particular focus on AIFMD requirements .
- Assisting with the implementation and ongoing enhancement of the Compliance Monitoring Plan, including undertaking testing and monitoring.
- Assisting in maintaining local compliance policies and procedures and advising on their application to existing and new business initiatives.
- Assisting with regulatory filings to the CSSF.
- Assisting in managing regulatory engagements with the CSSF.
- Contributing to the preparation of senior management and board reporting.
- Establishing successful partnerships with Compliance colleagues in other EMEA locations.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with key business partners including but not limited to areas of responsibility and attending regular management meetings as appropriate. Liaising with other BlackRock business units, and external parties such as auditors.
- Supporting Marketing Compliance with French language marketing materials
- Participating in Compliance or business-driven projects, including regulatory developments and strategic initiatives, by timely value-added advice.

- Reviewing client communications and/or financial promotions (as required) including consumer and trade advertisements, brochures, factsheets, presentations etc.
Knowledge/experience
- At least 4 8 years' experience within Compliance, Legal or other control function or governance role within the fund/asset management industry.
- Working knowledge of AIFMD, UCITS, MiFID, SFTR, SFDR and the Luxembourgish regulatory environment.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to quickly comprehend complex matters.
- Technical ability and mindset to challenge the status-quo and deliver a solutions-driven approach.
- Persuasive and influential in the provision of Compliance advice to a high-performing internal client base.
- Ability to collaborate effectively both within the team and across functions.
- High standard of accuracy and rigorous attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and solutions-driven with ability to use initiative and think-laterally to navigate problems and make decisions.
- Excellent organisational skills with ability to prioritise workloads and adhere to deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to articulate complex situations.
- French and English speaking/ written ability is preferable
