Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Life Benefits Specialist demonstrates expertise in Life Benefits and is responsible for projects and initiatives related to coaching, training and mentoring life team analysts, and serving as a liaison to external areas. The specialist participates in projects related to general claims processes and serves as a liaison to divisions interacting with Life Benefits. The incumbent handles complex and unique claims in Life insurance, payment or income plans and Northwestern Access Fund, particularly in an advisory role to Life Team analysts with the ability to waive requirements on an as needed basis.
Projects and Initiatives - The specialist participates as a key representative in projects involving the claims process, such as systems projects, external audits and inter-divisional workflow changes. The specialist may also lead these projects. Additionally, the specialist contributes to improvements in workflow and processing techniques through continuous monitoring and evaluation of the claims process. The incumbent also serves as a key contact for divisions with which Life Benefits works, such as the Insurance Operations Customer Contact Center (IOCCC). Specific liaison duties will be identified as needed and may also be delegated to other Life Benefits analysts.
This position has been classified as an Associated Person under NMIS guidelines and requires fingerprinting and completion of required form.

At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
