The Position
The Lead or Senior Analyst is a member of Client Operation and Transition Japan, will be based in the Tokyo office. The Client Operation and TransitionServices isa part ofInvesTechAPAC group that provides world-class operation and various solutions using the latesttechnology toboth investors and clients globally. Responsibilities of the division include a wide range of services such asDaily OperationsInvestment Operations -Trade Operations and communications (securities transaction, foreign exchange transaction, fund transfers, derivatives transaction), Corporate Actions and Reconciliation, Client cash flows(redemption/contribution)processingDerivative OperationsSecurity Referential Data and PricingAd-Hoc ActivitiesInvestor Support (Performance, Cash Flow Management, Product Support)Initiating account record set up for new accounts and/or portfolios, reviewing and approving new accounts set up,facilitatingproper use of internal trade restrictionflagsSupporting client transition events, including new mandate funding including fund launches, terminations, asset-in-kind flows, product/portfolio changes.Ensuring thetimelydelivery of account opening documentations, orchestrating custodial and market opening and connectivity both internally and externally.Operational risk managementMonitoring and enhancing team's offshore platform, integrating them into the work as much as possible toretainefficiencyand scalability, as trusted partner.
The Lead or Senior Analyst will provide direct support for a variety of activities handled by Client Operations and Transition Japan team. In addition, the Lead or Senior Analyst will be expected to play a critical role in the streamlining processes and enhancing workflow designed to support our global model, aligned with local market practice and requirement.
Responsibilities
The following list of responsibilities also includes oversight responsibility of the positionGeneralAct as a local operational representative for clients as well as internal departments suchandother members withinInvesTech, Client Group, Investment Management, Global Support team and Trading.Cultivate strong relationships with our client'sassigned trust and custodian banks.Identifyopportunities and collaborate with these firms to enhance and align global operational needs and industry best practices.Develop a deep understanding of Wellington Management, the culture, where resourcesreside, and how various functional groupsoperateto enhance operational support.Remain flexible withownjob responsibilities and help define the evolving roles within the team.Account activities monitoringTransaction detailsmonitoringand communication Interact with client, trust banks, brokers andWMCpersonnel to perform trade reconciliation, trade discrepancies resolution and communicating to the clients about transaction details.Cash balance monitoring Review current and projected overdraftson a daily basisand liaise internally to resolve.Enter, track, and manage client cash flow requests.Monitor control reporting to help ensure accuracy, mitigate risk, andfacilitatespecialized processing requirements for client cashrequest.Provide support for Wellington Management Funds cross boarder fund related matters (dealing terms, cash flows, transfers, transitions).Work closely with global colleagues to create, enhance, and implement efficient workflows,controlsand procedures.Client accountopenings/on-boardingInteract with custodian banks, trust banks, clients, andWMCpersonnel tofacilitateaccount opening, restructurings, closings and maintenance of internal reporting,complianceand other systems.
Qualifications
Candidates will need to be highly knowledgeable of Investment Operations concepts and processes (i.e.securities transactions, foreign exchange, derivatives transactions, funds transfer and how they are communicated within the asset management company as well as key market participants).They must be able to demonstrate a sound judgement ona number oftopics by considering the downstream impact and implications in an investment Management setting.Given the scope of this role and the dealings with internal and external contacts, candidates shouldpossessstrong inter-personal skills and written and oral communication skills in English.Otherqualifications/attributesBachelor'sdegree with 5-10 years +relevant offinancial industry experience with focus on international asset management and administration (including trust bank and custodians).Strong understanding of Japanese client base and Japanese market practice.Expertiseof specific client channels (e.g.pension, financial institutions, sub advisory) is a plus.An analytical thinker with an initiative-taking approach to process improvement, learning, and problemidentification/resolution
