About this role
We are looking for a lawyer witha minimum of 5years of work experience in the relevant field. The candidate will deliver the full range of legal support and advice on the services and activities carried out by BlackRock Saudi Arabia (
BSA
The candidate will directly manage and coordinate across a wide range of business and operations teams on legal, regulatory and business issues and risks associated with the ongoing operations in the growing business of BSA . The role will also include assistance with country management matters, including corporate governance. The legal support includes the drafting and negotiating of a broad range of contracts in English and Arabic.
The individual will be based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, reporting into the Director, responsible for Legal coverage in the Middle East and Africa. The individual will be expected to work with a certain autonomy and, once familiar with the BlackRock business structures, operating models and documentation, to work with minimum levels of supervision/review of work produced.
Responsibilities
- Provide proactive and practical, commercial guidance and legal support to the BlackRock business activities in Saudi Arabia (including wealth and institutional sales, traditional and alternative products and strategies)
- Draft and implement relevant contracts in the field of asset management in Saudi Arabia (e.g.
- investment management agreements
- co-marketing agreements, partnership agreements
- license agreements
- Provide legal coverage for the locally doimiciled Funds or investment vehicles managed by BlackRock (drafiting and implementation of changes and addition of new sub-funds in fund contracts and prospectuses)
- Monitor and ensure timely implementation of impending legal and regulatory developments that affect BSA
- Commission external legal advice where appropriate, ensuring quality advice is delivered, manage the local counsel relationships and budget requirements
- Develop and actively manage internal client relationships
- Liaise and work closely with local Compliance Officer and other members of BlackRock Legal & Compliance regionally and globally
- Establish in collobaration with Compliance appropriate relationship with the Saudi Capital Markets Authority (and other relevant regulatory bodies) in close conjunction with the leadership of BlackRock in the region, and ongoing management of that relationship
- Work in a fast-paced and business-oriented environment with business groups throughout BlackRock.
Knowledge/Experience
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations for fund management and asset management activities in Saudi Arabia, as well as the structuring and promotion of BlackRock products.
Qualifications/Skills
- Currently licensed, admitted to practice, and with a Law degree (or equivalent qualification) from an accredited top-tier law school
- Practice licence
- 5+ years of hands-on experience either in-house or with an established law firm
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Arabic.
