POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Investment Risk position is a senior role within the SSGA ERM Investment Risk team

. The candidate will take on a leadership role providing risk oversight for portfolio exposures, covering a range of asset class including equities, cash, fixed income, currency and multi-asset. In addition, the role will involve additional responsibilities as it pertains to audit and regulatory deliverables, enterprise level reporting and analysis, as well as leading special projects and strategic initiatives for ERM.

This position requires the ability to grasp complex concepts coupled with a solid understanding of the various different asset classes and financial instruments, risk measurement and analytics, quantitative modeling, and risk management techniques. The role involves interactions with SSGA teams globally, including portfolio management, product management, technology teams, legal, and operations, depending on the task at hand. The position requires interaction with senior management, and ability to effectively communicate, in both written and verbal form, complex analytical processes and concepts.

The individual should be well versed in a wide range of financial products as well as have a demonstrated ability to work on independent projects with limited supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 8 - 10 years' experience in data analysis, risk management, and/or analytical roles.
  • Strong knowledge of securities markets in investment management, risk management, consulting, and/or an analytical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and possess strong problem solving and resolution skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven project management, interpersonal, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to work with all levels of personnel across the organization, including senior executives.
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Strong multitasking skills, ability to successfully manage a number of work streams to deadlines and standards of quality.
  • Experience with risk concepts and database tools are considered a plus.
  • Programming skills (R, VBA, Python) is a plus.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in business-related field or equivalent experience. CFA or FRM a plus.
