Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities vary depending on assigned projects(s) and department assignment.
Examples of past intern projects include
- Build a three-statement financial model and prepare earnings forecast
- Review investment opportunities in the primary and secondary loan markets. Prepare credit recommendation memos incorporating financial, credit and relative value analyses
- Develop a valuation factor which seeks to identify companies that trade at a discount relative to what is justified by the return-on-equity each company generates
- Create a factor that assesses the fundamental strength of each company by estimating intangible capital acquired through cumulative expenses in efforts to build such assets
- Sentiment analysis using natural language processing (NLP) for alpha generation based on earnings call transcripts
- Implement textual analysis to infer sentiment in company filings
- Support the Senior Portfolio Managers and Sr. Portfolio Analyst in a variety of daily responsibilities including helping to automate administrative tasks within the separate account team investment systems including account setup, document storage, daily cash management
- Utilize Bloomberg PORT to illustrate positioning across peer groups and relative to key fund competitors
Required Qualifications
- Current Junior at a 4-year university pursuing a bachelor's degree in Finance, Quantitative, Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Business, or related field
- Graduation date of December 2024 or May/June 2025
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in scripting in R, Python, SQL, VBA, or similar
- Exposure to database management tools
- Strong analytical ability and familiarity with statistical inference, machine learning, optimization theory, and some exposure to finance
- High degree of self-motivation with strong integrity and ethics
- Proven organization skills and ability to manage time effectively
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Ability to work and communicate collaboratively and constructively with others
- Demonstrated curiosity about financial markets and systematic investing
