What is the Opportunity
RBC Global Asset Management (RBC GAM) is a North American-based asset manager with global scope and industry leading investment management capabilities. RBC GAM manages approximately C$615 billion in assets worldwide on behalf of institutional and individual investors through mutual funds, pooled funds, hedge funds, segregated accounts, and specialty investment strategies.
Located in Toronto, the High Yield Bond Team, as part of the Global Fixed Income and Currencies group is searching for an investment professional to assume the newly created role of HY Bond Trader. This detail-oriented individual will be a team player working closely with HY Portfolio Managers, Credit Analysts and a Data Analyst primarily executing trades. The HY Bond Trader is also expected to add value by analyzing counterparty trade proposals and by initiating and recommending trades to capture an opportunity within the market. Please visit
What will you do?
- Allocate, ticket, execute and confirm PM approved trades using best execution practices.
- Help troubleshoot any trade issues.
- Point person on portfolio trades, CDX and ETF's.
- Gather and inform HY Team on new issue supply including book size, pricing, orders.
- New security set-up and troubleshooting.
- Analyze primary and secondary market trade opportunities to add value.
- Monitor market structure developments and technical's and inform on electronic trading, ETF impact, liquidity, algorithmic trading.
- Provide insights into counterparties value added and trade cost analysis.
- Assist team with relative value assessment.
- Help maintain and build strong relationships with counterparties.
- Monitor position weights are at target.
- Adhere to and be informed regarding internal compliance and policy requirements.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
- Attention to detail and time management while working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- 2-3 years of experience trading corporate bonds.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills
- Proficient user of Bloomberg
Nice to Have
- CFA charter holder
- Experience with High Yield Bonds
- Knowledge of Charles River
