Wells Fargo is seeking a Strategy & Planning Director for the Credit Risk Management function. This role will report to the Chief Credit Officer (CCO), who is responsible for Consumer Credit Administration and Oversight, Wholesale Credit Administration and Oversight, Risk Model Development, Allowance for Loan Loss, Stress Testing, Credit Reporting, and Risk Asset Review. This will also have a dotted line to the Head of Strategy, Planning & Governance for all of Corporate Risk.
As a part of Wells Fargos second line of defense and Independent Risk Management team, credit overseesall credit risks for Wells Fargo. The Credit team is also responsible for Model Development, the Allowance for Loan and Lease Losses, Stress Testing, and Credit Reporting. Credit oversightchallenges management decisions, business processes and activities, and evaluates and assesses adherence to credit policy. It provides appropriate analysis, reporting, and escalation to senior management and the Board of Directors, sets minimum standards for the company, and gives advice, guidance, and support for credit risk management activities across the enterprise.
In this role, you will
This Strategy & Planning Director must have experiencein complex financial organizations with broad enterprise stakeholders from various LOB's. A successful candidate will be articulate and possess demonstrated skills on credit acumen, leadership capability and strategy development they will have strong interpersonal effectiveness and ability to influence senior leaders as well as regulators.
This individual will serve as a critical advisor to the Chief Credit Officer, which will require a specific focus on managing and supporting a broad, diverse team while leveraging a strategic, detail-oriented, flexible approach.
- Coordinate Strategy & Planning activities including broad initiatives, and resources to create consistency of services, span/scope, and delivery.
- Provide vision and set direction for multiple high impact initiatives and teams to achieve long-term strategic objectives that impact management across functions.
- Serve as primary liaison between this group and key enterprise partners, including Human Resources, Finance, Corporate Properties Group, Corporate Communications, Regulatory Relations, and Investor Relations.
- Work with senior leaders to develop consistent and effective practices designed to reinforce key business strategies and the team member experience.
- Oversee and implement initiatives on behalf of Chief Credit Officer, not limited to
- Reporting and financial forecast oversight.
- Monitoring the portfolio of Risk owned issues.
- Submitting and contributing to key enterprise processes including Resiliency, Recovery and Resolution Planning, Third Party Management, Risk Assessments, etc.
- Creating business updates, strategy presentations, educational materials, and other key updates.
- Talent and development initiatives including staffing processes to include identification and management of human capital risks and recruiting strategies Early talent recruiting, succession planning, and staff mobility.
- Lead the strategic planning process and development of long-range strategic plans for the CCO consistent with Wells Fargos strategic planning process.
- Lead Strategy and Planning team by making strategic decisions to resolve highly complex issues to meet higher risk deliverables.
- Interpret and develop a range of policies and procedures for functions with moderate to higher complexity and risk.
- Lead the Model Controls function providing production oversight for all models executed by the group, driving automated solutions and consistent approaches understand model lifecycle risks and controls, and own the risk assessable unit responsible for model development, production, and monitoring oversee audit and testing engagements.
- Lead the Model Governance function supporting credit forecasting and decisioning models, as well as other Corporate Risk models, ensuring adherence to model risk policy and model lifecycle procedures approve model risk rankings and exceptions, resolve issues, influence stakeholders, and own the model governance risk assessable unit.
- Collaborate with and influence all levels of professionals, including peers and more experienced leadership.
- Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Strategy and Planning
- Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy.
- Coordinate across areas and oversee preparation of analysis and reporting for Executive and Board level governance committees.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of Strategy and Planning experience or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following work experience, training, military experience, education
- 4+ years of Management experience

- Experience with a lending product area or within a credit risk aligned function.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking coupled with an ability to translate ambiguous ideas/issues into well-defined plans/solutions with a track record for delivering results.
- Effective communicator, both orally and in writing, able to ask well-crafted questions and present ideas in a clear and compelling manner, good listener who engenders creative thinking and teamwork.
- An ability to develop and articulate sound proposals to key stakeholders, and an ability to influence and drive timely decision making.
- Proven ability to cultivate relationships and collaborate with multiple stakeholders and constituencies, including business leaders, legal, audit and multiple U.S. and non-U.S. regulators.
- Proven experience establishing a large-scale vision, developing the strategy to support the vision, gaining consensus across key functional leadership areas through effective communication and successful delivery against goals and objectives.
- Experience driving large-scale organizational change.
- Strong leadership abilities to build and manage high-performing teams, ensuring proper staffing and expertise.
- Ethical integrity and proven ability to serve as a role model by reinforcing and demonstrating to your team members the core values and behavioral expectations contained in Wells Fargo's Vision, Values & Goals.
- Advanced Degree preferred (Masters, MBA, or JD).
