What you will be responsible for
The Head of Controllership Strategic Initiatives will play a critical role in the daily management of the Americas and EMEA Controllership organization. Reporting directly to the Deputy Controller and Chief Accounting Officer, this individual will be a critical member of the Americas and EMEA Controllership Leadership Team and a key contributor to strengthening the overall strategy, business management and operations of the team. Key areas of responsibility for this role include
- Leading the Company's internal relationship support for Ernst & Young, LLP, State Street's external auditors, including timely execution of the annual engagement letter, ensuring compliance with all third party risk management requirements and preparation of materials on audit fees for the Company's Examining & Audit Committee
- Developing a process to communicate and report on all open audit issues and other control findings to ensure timely communication of approaching deadlines and ensuring continued progress towards closure
- Participating in multiple aspects of the Company's quarterly financial close activities, including
- ownership of the close calendar for Controllership, including developing an understanding of the key dates and deliverables in the close/earnings release process and close partnership with the Investor Relations team
- coordination of all materials for the quarterly Certification Committee meeting with the Company's CEO and CFO including preparation of materials, reviewing committee membership as there are senior leadership changes and recommending changes and distribution of materials to relevant stakeholders
- administration of the quarter results review meeting with the Company's banking regulators, including ensuring appropriate scheduling, coordination of materials, documentation of the meeting and key follow ups actions
- ownership of the quarterly representation letter process, including understanding key leadership changes and recommending changes to the rep letter process, seeking ways to execute the process more timely and incorporation of results of rep letters in Certification Committee materials
- Leading the budget process for the Americas and EMEA Controllership team, including working with the leadership team to understand changes to headcount, providing regular reporting on progress against budget and coordination with the lead finance officer on periodic budget preparation
- Leading the Americas and EMEA Controllership strategy and goal setting process, including working with the leadership team to understand key goals and performance indicators, developing strategic priorities for the broader team and developing regular reporting on progress
- Leading the Employee Engagement Strategy for the Americas and EMEA Controllership team, including setting the strategic priorities, leading the Communications pillar and playing a key role with the leadership team to understand employee engagement survey results and adjusting strategic priorities accordingly
Education & Preferred Qualifications
- Four (4) year degree is required. A major such as Finance or Economics is desirable but not
- mandatory.
- 10+ years' experience in related field, including an understanding of the responsibilities of a
- Finance/Controllership
- Strong communication skills and initiative and confidence to lead meetings and drive
- participationand
- Strong organizational skills
- Executive presence and ability to influence both people and
- strategies
- Results-driven self-starter with the ability to multitask. Strong initiative and ability to work in a self-directed environment with a can do attitude and growth mindset
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to work within a team

- Ability to manage competing demands and multiple initiatives in parallel, including the ability to deal with changing priorities, delays, or unexpected events
