Job Description

The Head of Business Operations and Strategy leads a global team of 160+ associates responsible for delivering cross-Asset Management (AM) business operations and the CRBO (Compliance Risk Business Operations) strategy team. This leader is a key partner for leaders across AM and other Fidelity business units ensuring the delivery of key business initiatives and support services.

  • Lead the business operations, planning and administration functions across AM.
  • Lead the AM Data Office (AMDO), overseeing AM's data governance and strategy program, and chair the AM Data Governance Steering Committee. The AMDO serves as a central utility to drive AM's key data initiatives and partners closely with AM Technology, FFIO, and the Enterprise Data Management Council.
  • Lead the Advanced Process Solutions (APS) team, which is responsible for driving operational excellence and implementing AI/emerging technologies to drive efficiency and reduce risk. The APS team also leads CRBO's Citizen Development Program, facilitates design thinking assessments, and delivers advanced data analytics capabilities.
  • Lead the Alternative Investments Project Management team, which includes support for onboarding alternative investments across the organization and driving AM's alternative product governance strategy as well as other business initiatives.
  • Lead CRBO's Project Management and Strategic Support team, which is responsible for project and program management for key CRBO business initiatives.
  • Lead business management and strategy for CRBO which include internal communications, intern/college program, and management of scorecard/QBRs/KPIs.
  • Partner with AM Technology and business partners to provide business analysis and support for CRBO's technology portfolio using Agile principles.
  • Manage AM's global real estate strategy and planning in partnership with FREC

The Expertise and Skills You

Bring

The successful candidate must be a proven leader with a minimum of 15 years' experience leading multi-functional and geographically dispersed teams and a track record of delivering that achieve positive, measurable results.

  • Proven leadership of major transformation initiatives in businesses where technology is foundational to the underlying operations, growth, and client service.
  • Ability to effectively influence, lead and motivate direct and indirect teams across multiple locations, and time zones, to support companywide objectives. The ability to lead and influence is critical inside and outside of the AM organization.
  • Strategic thinker with a track record of collaborating with business partners in support of innovation, transformation, and business growth.
  • Demonstrated a data-focused approach to decision making, both in day-to-day leadership and strategic tradeoff analyses
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical users across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work in an interdependent, team-oriented environment and effectively manages resources and relationships outside of one's direct control.
  • Provides management focus and discipline by translating strategies into specific goals, action plans and deliverables.
  • Ability to diagnose problems quickly and foresee potential issues.
  • Understanding of current regulatory frameworks and challenges in different regions domestically and globally.
  • Intellectually curious and model a culture of continuous learning, mentoring, and coaching.

Team

The Head of Business Strategy and Operations works collaboratively with leaders within and outside AM to ensure the decisions made are aligned to business strategy and delivery of key operations while supporting business efficiency and managing risk. Most decisions are made autonomously but will require the awareness of key senior leaders, e.g., Head of AM, Head of AM Finance and Head of CRBO. Below are illustrative examples of the decisions this leader is responsible for making.

  • Partners with Fidelity Corporate Real Estate (FREC) managing the AM's global footprint ensuring AM's senior leadership is informed of key decisions.
  • Partners closely with AM Technology and FFIO leadership to ensure alignment on AM's data program and overall data strategy.
