JOB DESCRIPTION$100,000 - $160,000 Annual

The Gold Strategist will support and provide timely gold investment research and gold ETF product positioning as part of the SPDR Gold Strategy Team. You will be based in Boston, MA. You will demonstrate expertise on the subject of gold as an asset class and strategic portfolio investment, augmenting gold-related research, content, and perspectives while fostering team collaboration to support the overall gold strategy initiatives for the firm. You will work alongside a larger ETF Research & Strategy team dedicated to ETFs, market outlook and product positioning. You will build and sustain strong working partnerships with other internal investment and research teams as well as internal sales, marketing, and product partners.

Using strong investment merits, your work enhances the product positioning of State Street SPDR ETFs. To do so, you will contribute to thought-provoking investment content on trends in the gold market, the role of gold in portfolios, and the different implementation strategies for gold backed ETFs, helping to educate our clients and promote our gold ETFs relative to other investment vehicles and asset classes.

Strong communications skills for internal and external presentations are required, and while you are meant to be focused on gold you should have an in-depth understanding of total portfolio construction investment theory, global asset class trends, macroeconomic themes, as well as, trading implementation strategies. You should also have experience with quantitative techniques and an understanding of derivatives.

You will have internal and external opportunities to promote Gold Strategy Team views and insights, providing timely market commentary and investment research to State Street sales teams and clients. Clients will be focused within Intermediary and Institutional channels including financial advisors, due diligence analysts, model portfolio managers, capital markets traders, asset managers, hedge funds and asset owners both in the US and abroad.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-7 years of related investment experience
  • CFA and/or master's degree preferred, or progress towards
  • Experience with commodities, real assets, and/or precious metals markets preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of dedicated portfolio construction and asset allocation topics
  • In-depth knowledge of ETFs and other investment vehicles
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills to concisely deliver sophisticated topics
  • Ability to work with and influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Positive attitude with a strong team orientation, and is enthusiastic to educate internal partners and clients
  • Current securities licenses (Series 7 and Series 63) required
  • Clean compliance and U4 record required
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg, Morningstar, Tableau
  • Knowledge of risk modelling techniques
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
