The State Street Global Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (GIDE) Team Lead will play a pivotal role in driving and implementing talent strategies, programs, and initiatives to foster an inclusive, diverse, and equitable workplace across the organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Diversity Officer with a dual reporting line to the Chief Talent Officer, this critical role will lead a high performing team responsible for delivering GIDE consulting, enablement, employee resource group priorities, equity programs and partnerships. A key leader of the STT Talent organization leadership team, the GIDE Team Lead plays a key role in implementing key GIDE related talent priorities that enable achievement of State Street's human capital strategy.

Key Responsibilities

In collaboration with the Chief Diversity Officer, the GIDE Team Lead's key areas of focus include the following

  • Strategy Development
    • Collaborate with the Chief Diversity Officer and other key stakeholders to develop and implement comprehensive GIDE human capital strategies aligned with organizational goals.
    • Provide expert guidance and support to business leaders and employees on DEI matters, including promoting inclusive leadership behaviors, mitigating unconscious biases, creating a culture of psychological safety and belonging, and fostering cultural competence
    • Conduct regular assessments and analyses to identify gaps, trends, and opportunities for enhancing inclusion, diversity and equity within the organization.
  • Consulting
    • In partnership with Talent Development & Learning (TD&L) Talent Consultant team, lead and define a consistent set of GIDE related priorities and support via business and functional unit Talent Action Plans (TAPs).
    • Define and implement future state evolution of the 10 Actions future state with focus on global resonance.
    • In collaboration with our Internal Comms and Marketing teams, build an internal/external communications, branding, and marketing strategy in support of the overall GIDE framework
    • Drive the overall strategy and execution of the diversity goals for the global enterprise
    • Define diverse talent strategy that considers individual learning, development, attraction, engagement, and mobility focus.
  • Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) Oversight
    • Provide strategic direction and support for Employee Resource Groups and leadership cohorts, ensuring alignment with organizational related priorities.
    • Collaborate with ERG leaders to develop and implement initiatives that promote belonging, engagement, retention, talent acquisition and professional development among members.
    • Facilitate cross-ERG collaboration and knowledge-sharing to maximize impact and foster a sense of community across the organization globally.
    • Determine appropriate resources to support ERG leaders, members, and allies in driving positive change and advancing GIDE objectives.
    • Foster a culture of learning and development within ERGs, encouraging continuous growth and knowledge-sharing among members.
  • Equity Programs & Process Effectiveness
    • In partnership with Chief Diversity Officer, support execution of MLT Racial Equity& & 10 Actions Program
    • Lead the development and implementation of equity programs designed to address systemic barriers and promoting fairness and justice within the organization.
    • Partner with GHR-CC colleagues, business leaders and other key stakeholders to identify and address areas of inequity in policies, practices, and procedures.

In collaboration with the Chief Diversity Officer, the GIDE Team Lead's key areas of focus include the following

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of equity programs, adjusting as needed to ensure meaningful impact.
  • Program and Initiative Management
    • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of GIDE related programs and initiatives aimed at fostering an inclusive workplace environment.
    • Serving as subject matter expert, partner with the Talent Development & Learning colleagues to design and deliver training programs, workshops, and educational sessions to promote competence and awareness.
  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to GIDE team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
    • In collaboration with the Chief Diversity Officer, set clear goals and expectations, monitor performance, and provide ongoing feedback and coaching to ensure the teams success.
    • Manage GIDE budget in partnership with the Chief Diversity Officer and Chief Talent Officer
  • Client & Key Stakeholder Engagement
    • In collaboration with the Chief Diversity Officer, serve as a primary point of contact for GIDE related inquiries and initiatives, both internally and externally where appropriate
    • In partnership with the Chief Diversity Officer, serve as key Subject Matter Expert to support efforts relating to client related priorities designed to strengthen relationships with diverse client segments
    • Cultivate strong relationships with cross-functional teams within the GHR-CC organization, business leaders, employee resource groups, and external partners to drive GIDE efforts effectively.
    • Deepen relationships with external partners in partnership with GHR-CC COEs where applicable (e.g., diverse recruiting, sourcing, pipelining, program development).
  • Enablement
    • Support team supporting GIDE Enablement related priorities including analyzing relevant data related to key GIDE metrics, including representation, retention, and employee engagement.
    • Partner closely with Talent Enablement team to ensure the full breadth of the Talent Enablement function is leveraged (e.g., reporting, vendor mgmt., comms, RFPs etc.)
    • Monitor and report Diversity Goals progress to the appropriate stakeholders
    • Partner with Workforce Planning & Insights team in providing reporting and other data needs to consult senior leadership (e.g., highlighting progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement)
  • Policy Development and Compliance
    • Collaborate with HR and other corporate and control function teams to review, develop, and implement inclusive policies and practices that support diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    • Promote/support and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards related to GIDE initiatives.
