Global Head of Communications, Asset Management

Summary

Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Asset Management Global Head of Communications role will set the strategic direction of the business unit's internal and external communications in support of, and aligned with, the business goals and objectives. They will also lead the tactical execution of related deliverables to help meet the needs of internal business/corporate and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities include

  • Lead all strategy development and execution support for all strategic global internal and external communications, aligned with business objectives and priorities manage a communications analyst responsible for assisting in the delivery of this mission-critical function.
  • Lead, in partnership with the chief marketing officer, president, human resources, internal PR team, and global business leaders all crisis and change communications efforts and planning, including coordination with stakeholders and the development and execution of the messaging, templates, communications playbooks and activation plans necessary to achieve the desired outcome.
  • Meet regularly with key business stakeholders to understand business needs and objectives provide guidance, counsel and recommendations. Enable stakeholders with self-serve templates for tier 2 communications.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Asset Management business and investment leaders, other business unit and corporate marketing and communication leaders.
  • Collaborate with content marketing, digital marketing, product marketing, brand activation, other business units, and North America and international channel marketing and corporate

  • Work with Corporate Media Relations to help inform comprehensive PR plans for each region outlining key business unit priorities, targeted publications, editorial content calendar opportunities, proactive messaging and critical considerations. Ensure strategy supports overall Asset Management messaging/value proposition.
  • Work closely with media relations team and external PR agencies to identify spokespeople and develop and proactively surface potential story ideas to securing media interview and speaking engagement opportunities for key strategic business topics.
  • Develop, communication talking points, Q&As, reactive messaging assist with developing press release and holding statement drafts when necessary or as needed.
  • Craft communications in various formats (emails, video, newsletter etc.) that educate, inspire, and instill confidence both for internal employee and external client/prospect audiences
  • Plan and manage all elements (crafting, deploying, measuring) of internal newsletter developing strategy, content agenda, messaging, and digital distribution.
  • Oversee internal video development, including crafting scripts and advising on creative
  • Work with senior executives, including the president and chief of staff, business line heads, and subject matter experts to proactively develop communication ideas to engage employees, clients, and media on key strategic business topics.
  • Serve as a resource to the marketing department, providing communications counsel and expertise as needed.
  • Develop framework for and oversee all global communications metrics reporting. Contribute to enhanced marketing measurement capabilities by completing KPI measurement for designated initiatives globally, as appropriate.
  • Effectively manage strategic partner/vendor resources to meet team objectives and stay within budget.
  • Develop executive communications content for various purposes, including social media, as required.
  • Develop and/or post business unit content for corporate and Asset Management intranets.

The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following

  • 10 or more years of experience in communications or public relations role in the asset/investment management industry, or as serving in an agency capacity for such firms.
  • Working knowledge of investment management rules and regulations ('40 act fund compliance, SEC marketing rule, FINRA)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and a proven ability to inspire, motivate and manage professionals and stakeholders to achieve exceptional, high quality, measurable results.
  • Demonstrated experience and familiarity with all communications disciplines-internal communications, external communications, crisis communications, social media, executive communications, and media relations.
  • Results-oriented with a very high standard and commitment to excellence. Proven track record of exceptional communications and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency of excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to inspire and educate, write about complex topics in a simple, easy to understand way. Attention to detail is essential.
  • Demonstrated mastery of written communications, with the ability to adjust tone and style as needed.
  • Strong verbal communications skills.
  • Successful track record of effective collaboration and the ability to work with and lead both senior business leaders and partners at all levels on communications projects from conception of messaging, plan and playbook development to execution strategic advice and execution support throughout the process.
  • The ability to work well and remain calm under pressure prioritizing well, managing multiple projects at once, while delivering high quality work, adhering to standards for internal client service and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent project management, time management and organizational skills.
  • Highly geared toward proactive work, detail-orientation, resourcefulness, and continual learning.
  • Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills, with ability to synthesize and analyze information and make well informed decisions.

  • Demonstrated disposition toward flexibility.
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Finance, Economics, or related field required.
