As a Vice President Business Manager within the Global Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities group in the Asia Pacific region as a part of Asset Management, you will serve as a reliable advisor to Business/Group Heads. Your responsibilities will include identifying, escalating, and mitigating business risks, with the goal of optimizing business performances and spearheading key initiatives. You will be a member of a team that supports and implements initiatives on behalf of Global Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities. Your enthusiasm for innovative and analytical thinking will be crucial as you collaborate with stakeholders across various groups such as Control Management, Compliance, Legal, Risk and Technology.
Job responsibilities
- Contribute to prioritisation and delivery of strategic Global Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities business initiatives, with a heavy focus on APAC initiatives including development of Asset Management China
- Communicate effectively with key business partners both regionally and globally to understand initiatives and lead next steps, always aiming tobuild scalable, consistent processes that align with our global model
- Deal with and resolve time sensitive business issues as they arise and provide a high level of responsiveness to adhoc requests related to business issues
- Work with local and global managers to contribute to annual business planning and operating strategy reviews and prioritise and input to design of technology projects
- Represent Global Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities APAC at regional and global committees and governance forums
- Organise complex information in a strategic and compelling way, demonstrating design skills using Excel and PowerPoint for presentation to Global Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities senior management
- Become familiar with key regulations relevant for Global Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities APAC, including representing on industry working groups, and be involved in regulatory change, governance oversight and product development type initiatives
- Represent Global Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities APAC during regulatory exams/visits, and internal and external audits
- Partner with Control Management to ensure Global Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities APAC meetsoperational risk and control objectives including the completion of action plans
- Coordinate and partner with other asset class Business Management teams to agree best practice, particularly in relation to audit preparation and control initiatives
- Collaborate with regional and global team members and managers, looking for ways to continually simplify, improve, and add value to existing business processes
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a business management, finance, controls, risk or strategy role with a strong understanding of financial markets or asset management
- Pro-active and excellent communicator with the ability to connect with audiences across different levels including senior managers
- Able to work independently, proactively dealing with time sensitive business issues, andfeels empowered to confidently communicate with senior stakeholders
- Able to manage multiple complex, fast-paced, and multi-faceted projects and have the flexibility to meet changing requirements and priorities
- Able to problem-solve, methodical and self-disciplined, with attention to detail
- Strong desire to further develop knowledge base
- Highly motivated, self-starter willing to accept responsibility and motivated to achieve excellence
- Intermediate to advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Have the awareness to be able to escalate when necessary to regional and global managers
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- An understanding of fixed income products would be highly beneficial, and an understanding of derivatives workflow would also be useful
- Professional fluency in Mandarin, to support interaction with Asset Management China colleagues
- Professional qualifications, e.g., Chartered Financial Analyst, Financial Risk Manager or Investment Management Certificate
