The Global Banking & Markets Public Data Governance Team is searching for dedicated individuals who thrive in a collaborative and challenging environment to join our team. You will serve as product owners on high priority initiatives that are part of the data governance protection and strategy remit within the Division. You will leverage your product management skills and technical expertise to influence and drive the team to deliver on this commercial and complex initiative. Responsibilities of the Data Governance Team include implementing the Firm's data governance policies, ensuring that the data used for reporting requirements is well understood and of the highest quality available.

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

  • Work with data consumers and producers to negotiate ownership of data
  • Create lineage graphs to show how data moves from top of the flow (e.g. trading, sales and deal systems) to lower down the flow (e.g. client reporting, regulatory reporting, books and records)
  • Develop communication and reference materials that enable data consumers and producers to implement the data governance policy and standard
  • Provides guidance on best practices for remediation to ensure sustainable solutions
  • Define, create, and document appropriate data validation controls
  • Provide data quality analytics that enable data consumers and producers to drive remediation efforts
  • Develops management reporting, reporting dashboards, and strategic tools to monitor success of the data governance program and identify areas of risk
  • Analyzes issues for themes, patterns, and emerging risks
  • Partner with users and provide feedback on the strategic tooling to engineering teams for business use cases
  • Partner closely with divisions to define and evolve firmwide data governance strategy
  • Build consensus across senior stakeholders and communicate progress on the program initiatives
  • Increases awareness and communications on lessons learned within the function / business line

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • This role requires an energetic self-starter that can liaise across Global Banking and Markets both regionally and globally. Solid understanding of the global markets franchise offered by the firm and experience within a risk management or control discipline context are required.
  • 3-5 years in the Financial Services / Banking industry
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills along with an interest in the broader control environment within financial services are essential to succeed in this role
  • Strong control mindset with a passion for risk management
  • Excellent communication skills to clearly articulate issues and ideas with different levels across Global Banking and Markets stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to understand complex workflows, and excellent attention to details
  • Sound time management skills to be able to effectively prioritize and multi-task
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills to collaborate as a global team and build strong relationship with key stakeholders across Divisions.
  • Aptitude handling large data sets, synthesizing a variety of information to describe a risk and control profile
  • Strong Powerpoint and Excel Skills required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Practical experience in Sales and Trading, First Line Risk and Controls, Internal Audit, Risk, Compliance or Operations functions
  • Knowledge of Data Management and/or Visualization (ie Alteryx) a strong plus
  • Knowledge of at least one programming language like Java/Python/HTML is a plus
  • Experience in process redesign and executing strategic concepts from inception to implementation is a plus
  • Knowledge of products and processes related to the financial services industry would be an advantage, as is related experience in an engineering role or relevant business function
