What Youll Do

We're looking for a Financial Analyst V to join our Principal Asset Management business on our Financial Planning & Analysis team. In this role, the primary focus will be supporting business decision-making through modeling and analyzing both new initiatives as well as existing operations and partnering with multiple collaborators to deliver asset management alignment programming all while clearly communicating with senior leadership!

  • Partnering with senior leaders to model and evaluate new initiatives that are expected to drive organic growth of the asset management business.
  • Collaborating with asset management and enterprise team members to assess capital usage to seed new product ideas and communicate the financial returns of the portfolio of products.
  • Developing management reporting to highlight the status of key performance indicators and implications on alignment programming.
  • Planning for and supporting year-end incentive compensation decisions through providing recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Communicating financial results to senior leadership and key partners across the Principal enterprise.
  • Driving the completion of ad-hoc and recurring analyses to uncover insights into the health of the business and benchmark against the competition.
  • Reviewing and driving annual goodwill impairment testing.

This team provides an opportunity to learn all the aspects of the global asset management operating model from the investment management structure across asset classes through the various funds platforms and distribution services and has the responsibility for understanding and communicating how critical initiatives will change performance to senior leadership.

Who You Are

  • Bachelors degree in math, actuarial science, finance, accounting, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Must have strong sense of curiosity, problem solving, attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have good interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to accept and adapt to a changing environment.

Work Environments

This role offers in-office and hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek) work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You'll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
