Summary

  • Responsible for performing a variety of accounting and analytical duties including preparing journal entries, balancing accruals, preparing financial reports, and analyzing the financial position of the corporation.
  • Researches and resolves accounting or reporting issues.
  • Compiles data for stockholder and regulatory reporting.
  • Prepare ad hoc investment summaries and reports

Major Duties

  • Performs accounting duties, including preparing and balancing accruals, verifying that accruals are recorded properly and accounting entries are accurate and reconciles differences.
  • Analyzes various accounts, including reviewing supporting documentation, analyzing entries, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Reviews and balances financial information from the various areas of the bank and prepares a preliminary statement of earnings.
  • Assists in preparing and verifying external regulatory reporting. Compiles data for the reports.
  • Prepares financial information for stockholders reports.
  • Responds to external requests for financial information regarding the corporation.
  • Assists with the preparation of investment memos as well as ad hoc presentations
  • Analyzes actual performance (expenses) against planned performance and explains variance.
  • Researches and assists in interpreting the impact of recent accounting developments in the division.
  • Disseminates findings to manager and other partners involved.
  • Communicates with partners to resolve discrepancies or provide assistance on accounting or disclosure issues.
  • Conducts special analysis and projects as assigned and prepares reports of detailed findings for management review.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of accounting and finance normally acquired through a four year degree program or related work experience is required to perform financial analysis and accounting duties (familiar with an income statement and balance sheet)
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory reporting usually acquired through related work experience is necessary to prepare government reports.
  • Analytical skills and problem solving skills are necessary to analyze financial data and prepare reports.
  • Organized and detail oriented with adaptability to changing deadlines and priorities
  • Personal computer skills are required to prepare financial reports and to utilize on-line and mainframe systems (Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
  • Knowledge of the Community Reinvestment Act or Non-profit space is a plus

Experience

  • 2-3 years of general accounting and finance experience without a related degree
