Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the effective execution of Institutional Block & Retail Equity/ETF/Option order flow across Ameriprise Brokerage and Advisory platforms
  • Leverage knowledge of equity & option market structure, security products, SEC & FINRA Regulations, execution analytics, complex trading strategies and risk management techniques when handling order flow
  • Quickly assess differing order characteristics and financial risk profiles against current market dynamics, achieving Best Execution objectives
  • Proactively provide market color and liquidity sourcing strategies to advisors and institutional customers that enhance opportunities to achieve best execution
  • Provide direction and oversight to resolve complex trading and settlement issues
  • Assist with direction and support of Trading Assistants as needed
  • Participate in ad-hoc and ongoing projects as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of relevant experience, including at least 1 year of Equity Trading experience, on a trading desk.
  • Thorough understanding of the financial markets with emphasis on Equity, ETF and Option Trading
  • Thorough understanding of Institutional/Block trading with large portfolio rebalancing including handling ETF Risk Creation & Redemption/Basket transactions. Experience trading Stocks, Exchange Traded Funds & Notes, Options, Preferreds, Rights and Warrants
  • Ability to perform in a highly stressful, time sensitive, and regulated environment
  • Experience working with trading/order management systems and applications
  • Ability to understand and follow regulatory and internal compliance guidelines
  • Strong understanding of the differing market structures and variables which impact pricing for each
  • Ability to work with limited direction and make quick decisions
  • Ability to handle difficult communications with advisors and provide effective issue resolution
  • Ability to build and maintain strong, positive relationships and influence others without having direct leadership accountability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable of the Beta Host, ThomsonOne, FactSet, TradeWeb, Bloomberg, and Valdi NGO applications
  • Strong Excel, macro creation/utilization, and overall analytic abilities
