ROLE
We are seeking to recruit a Research Associate (RA), who will be based in the APAC region (preferably Hong Kong) as part of our Global Healthcare team within our Investment Research Group. The RA will focus on researching healthcare companies in the Emerging Asia region. This fundamental research is expected to lead to differentiated insights derived from asking innovative questions, anticipating trends, identifying risks and potential disruptions in this rapidly changing industry. The ideal candidate is expected be able to communicate and implement those ideas with a highly analytical and detailed approach. The individual will work closely with the EM Asia Healthcare Global Industry Research Analyst as well as portfolio managers and other Global Industry Analysts on the global healthcare team. RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities for this position will include the following
- Performing continuous due diligence on Healthcare companies in Emerging Asia (China, India, Korea, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia)
- Staying abreast of important macro and government policy developments in these countries
- Creating and maintaining detailed financial models to aid in analyzing existing and prospective investments
- Attending company meetings, investment industry conferences, and conferences specific to area of coverage
- Completing complex analytical projects under tight time constraints
- Maintaining the integrity of industry and comparative valuation models
- Contributing to written research
- Making investment recommendations to global investment teams
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for a self-directed, hard-working team player with a passion for the markets and the Healthcare sector. This position is appropriate for an individual with strong analytical capabilities, good financial modeling skills, and an eagerness to apply their expertise in support of Wellington's Global Industry Research Team.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications
- An undergraduate degree with a strong academic record (preferably in medical sciences)
- Ideally 1-3 years of investment research experience, preferably within the Healthcare industry
- Strong financial modeling skills
- Sound judgment, strong work ethic and highest personal and professional integrity
- Be disciplined with a strong bottom-up fundamental approach to research
- Demonstrated analytical ability
- Self-awareness and resilience to be comfortable when wrong
- Ability building relationships and collaborating with experienced, cross-functional investment teams
- Ability to work independently where needed and make decisions in the face of uncertainty
- Ability to organize, manage, and prioritize time well
- Strong attention to detail
- A strong desire and appetite for continuous learning
- Fluency in English required, fluency in Mandarin Chinese is preferred
