Team Overview & Job Purpose

Global Investment Operations (GIO) Cash Operations is a group of dedicated professionals who are essential to the investment process by ensuring that all BlackRock cash & position data is accurate for processes including investment management, analytics, compliance, and meeting regulatory obligations. Cash types include, but are not limited to, equities, fixed income, OTC derivative positions (swaps, swaptions, FXs, and synthetics), collateral and digital assets. Our team provides information services and solutions in support of all BlackRock and BlackRock Solutions businesses. The roles and responsibilities will include actively managing risk and exposure for BlackRock by ensuring the investment book of records reconciles with external prime record holders on a daily basis. The role requires a solid understanding of the trade life cycle, the mechanics of the reconciliation process, exception management, troubleshooting issues, driving innovative enhancements, data analysis, maintaining documentation and leading transformation & change in processes and automation.

The senior Director / Managing Director is a senior member of the team responsible for leading the functional and regional team, collaborating with colleagues in the EMEA & U.S. regions as well with colleagues of all functions in the region and working with the technology teams to incorporate enhancements and recommend / drive operational change and improvements. As GIO Co-Head of India the senior Director / Managing Director is responsible for leadership and oversight across all GIO functions in India working closely with the global GIO Senior Leadership, our T&O Leadership and the Co-Head-Partner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic leadership for the function and in the region Drive technology improvements, business process reviews, build vision and seek opportunities that will set the regional team up to be successful over the long-term and integrate into the global model.
  • Collaborate with the regional / global Providers such as custodians, fund administrators and transfer agents to stay abreast of transformation initiatives, the impact BlackRock as a client and potentially Cash Operations workflows.
  • Understand market practices and regulatory framework, infrastructure changes and identify / deliver opportunities to disrupt, innovate and de-risk our existing processes and workflows by working closely with internal and external partners.
  • Identify and drive regional priorities whilst aligning with GIO's global strategy.
  • Enhance and manage a comprehensive risk management framework to measure key performance & risk metrics for Cash Operations / India promote a culture of root cause mitigation.
  • Understand end-to end cash lifecycle associated with all aspects of portfolio management market including market trades, securities lending, collateral management, payments, or corporate actions and how each impact cash reconciliations directly / indirectly and develop the ability of the entire team to correlate the effect of change.
  • All facets of talent management to be performed embracing BlackRock principles and role modeling these behaviors to the T&O community.

Qualifications

  • Candidate should possess a minimum of 15 years of financial services experience and a good understanding of Financial Markets, preferably within the Investment Management, Fund Accounting or Global Custody environment previous experience in custody reconciliation is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of supervisory experience in leading teams of professionals, staff development, coaching and performance assessments
  • Proven track record of successfully leading transformation initiatives inclusive adoption to market changes / disruptive events to achieve scale and automation. Having technology / engineering background and/or SQL, Python and VBA experience will be a plus.
  • Data Analytics skills preferred and/or understanding of data science methods & implementation.
  • Strong risk management and control approach
