Job Description

About the role

The HR Director for Japan and South Korea is responsible for executing Brookfield's global human resources plans that will facilitate the attraction, integration, retention and development of top performing employees, the design and implementation of programs that leverage the company's competitive advantage and build a dynamic, positive and productive corporate culture.

In meeting these objectives, the HR Director provides assumes responsibility for managing the employee population and implementing HR programs and processes that are consistent with each of the business group's commercial requirements (Real Estate, Infrastructure, Private Funds, Brookfield Oaktree Wealth Solutions, and Corporate Services) and are in line with Japanese and South Korean legislative requirements.

The HR Director plays a key role in overseeing the day to day management of performance management, training and development approaches as well as in managing all operational issues related to compensation and benefits.

This role works closely with the wider APAC HR team covering APAC recruitment and APAC payroll and benefits, other HR business group team members globally.

Responsible for

HR Services

  • Ensure the delivery of Brookfield's global HR programs and services in line with the Global HR business group requirements through on the ground implementation, reporting and day to day management.
  • Deliver high quality HR client services in managing employee relations, resolving problems and providing coaching and guidance.
  • Ensure that employment documents for Japan and Korea including employment contract templates, director's service agreements, employee handbooks, and any other HR policies and processes (eg health & safety) are compliant with legislation (eg. labor management agreements (Japan), MOEL filing (Korea) ) and Brookfield requirements.
  • Facilitate employee transfers including the implementation of work assignments, visas, conflicts papers as well as manage relocation processes and programs.
  • Implement Brookfield's performance management process working closely with HR colleagues across APAC and globally
  • Ensure HR services including employee files and documentation, onboarding and offboarding processes are of the highest quality and consistency
  • Understand licencing requirements of the Brookfield entities and work with the local Compliance teams to ensure appropriate training for employees and succession plans for licenced representatives
  • Work with HR Service Desk to ensure employees data in Workday is most accurate and up to date.

Recruitment

  • Work with business leaders to determine their recruitment requirements.
  • Support the APAC Talent Attraction team to implement the appropriate recruitment strategy (direct or agency) and support with local language capability and market knowledge where required
  • Provide market insights into external recruitment agency partners to engage with and standard terms of engagement
  • Ensure new employees are inducted and onboarded into Brookfield effectively

Payroll and Benefits

  • Work with the Asia Payroll & Benefits team to ensure accuracy of Japan and South Korean payrolls and the implementation of any benefit programs.
  • Facilitate market competitiveness analyses of benefits inclusive of pension, social security, insurances, wellbeing benefits etc.
  • Assist the Asia Payroll & Benefits team to implement changes to benefits structure that require employee approval and documentation
  • Participate in global benchmarking of compensation and incentive plans by ensuring local market data is rolled up to global centres of excellence
  • Work with APAC Payroll & Benefits team and the APAC tax team to ensure correct tax treatment of local compensation and benefits programs

Learning & Development

  • Work with functional and business leaders to ensure the design and delivery of effective learning and development programs to meet business requirements and growth plans. Engage with external local L&D companies to ensure
  • Develop the coaching skills of all leaders personally act as a coach to others in the organization.
  • Deliver on the ground training to employees in Japan and Korea for Brookfield's learning courses

About you

Languages

  • Excellent command of English (including spelling and grammar)
  • Fluent (business/ professional level) in either Japanese or Korean both written and verbal

Experience

  • Experience in Workday highly advantageous but not required
  • 7 + years administration experience in an office/corporate environment supporting management
  • Experience in PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook, Visio etc.
  • Experience managing or supporting a payroll team to manage payroll for Japan and/or Korea.
  • Ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment
  • Ability to consistently think outside the square and always looking at ways to improve systems and processes
  • Friendly, outgoing and helpful attitude who can adapt to working with a variety of personalities within the team
  • Driven to help succession as a team
