Wells Fargo is seeking a Data Management Manager

In this role, you will

  • Make decisions and resolve issues regarding operational execution for data governance, data quality or metadata
  • Recommend strategies to prioritize and remediate data quality issues that align with business needs or regulatory compliance initiatives
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for the development of audits and controls structured around business processes and data quality target state and metadata standards
  • Manage and develop team of individual contributor roles with low to moderate complexity focused on defining data quality requirements and delivering on data integrity initiatives
  • Manage operational execution of activities related to all stages of the remediation lifecycle
  • Direct team in developing solutions, tools and processes used to maintain a common companywide data quality, control standards and data sourcing
  • Collaborate with and consult with peers, colleagues, and multiple level managers to ensure consistent approach and direction on companywide remediation efforts
  • Serve as single point of contact for escalations on low to moderate complexity issues
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources
  • Mentor and guide talent development of direct reports and assist in hiring talent

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of Data Management, Business Research, Analytics, or Project Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 2+ years of Leadership experience

Desired Qualifications

  • 14+ years (overall experience) including 6+ years of people management and leadership experience, leading teams in data management, data governance, data quality or data analysis
  • 8+ years of experience working as a data steward or within a data governance organization responsible for specific data policies and procedures, delivering analytic, strategy execution or customer operations value in a line of business or function
  • University degree in Business or related discipline.
  • Exposure to reporting and Business Intelligence methodologies and tools
  • Experience maintaining relationships with varying stakeholders and information experts across the enterprise
  • Knowledge of Banking, BCBS, regulatory, risk and compliance requirements is a must
  • Experience in Internal Audit, COSO Testing, or other control testing associated with risk reports.
  • Proficient in Requirements gathering and working with multiple data owners.
  • Actively work on complex enterprise-wide programs and collaborates on strategic initiatives for data governance, data quality and metadata activities
  • Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate to build successful relationship.
  • Experience presenting status in a manner that informs and enhances understanding at all levels.
  • Good understanding of Data management/Data governance Policy and procedures
  • Strong hold on data management processes
  • Experience building strong relationships with senior leadership.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking and prioritization skills.

Job Expectations

  • Develop the methodologies, templates, and detailed testing approaches for the multi-year control testing plan for Tier 1 BCBS 239 Risk Reports
  • Establish and lead a high-performing team to deliver BCBS Control Testing function for Enterprise Data Governance team
  • Responsible for scoping, planning and delivery of BCBS Risk reports control testing.
  • Lead efforts with business partners to identify risks and controls for Control Tower Monitoring
  • Collaborate and partner with Control Executive, Senior LOBs executives, BDLS, relationship managers and Report owners.
  • Perform process walkthroughs, control tests of design, and control tests of effectiveness for the in-scope Tier 1 BCBS Risk Reports
  • Review detailed testing work papers and provide feedback to team members performing testing.
  • Document issues identified and gained agreement on ownership and management corrective action
  • Provide details updates on the status of testing and summarize testing results at the report level.
  • Adhere to data governance standards and procedures.
  • Maintains necessary processes, controls, and procedures to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Lead and Manage DMI Control Testing Team within Enterprise Data Governance POD.
