Who we are looking for

State Street's Technology Platform Engineering & Operations division is seeking an experienced hands-on, dynamic and analytical finance and data specialist to join our organization and help build out a new FinOps team.

Responsibilities include

  • Provide financial management support, including forecasting, budgeting, chargeback / show back strategy
  • Assist in development of operating model strategy (i.e., baseline current org structure, governance, and unified approach to foster organizational alignment)
  • Drive continuous cost optimization leveraging spend patterns, waste and consumption management protocols, and utilization reports
  • Develop and enhance spend transparency strategy ensuring effective visibility and management of cloud spend
  • Define and evolve tagging strategy (how to use and create tags and associated decision criteria/authority)
  • Conduct maturity assessments, including current state operating model, consumption tracking mechanisms, governance policies, cost controls, tagging
  • Establish set of high priority KPIs based on the ability to mature spend capability
  • Evaluate tool(s) needed to support FinOps
  • Collaborate with wider global teams on key business initiatives

These skills will help you succeed in this role

  • Experience in building data ingestion, data catalog and data analytics framework
  • Creating costs and savings dashboards for executive reporting to promote efficiency initiatives
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Self-motivated, adaptable professional with strong sense of initiative and strong sense of task ownership
  • Ability to multi-task and successfully manage simultaneous priorities
  • Experience working with Tableau, Power BI, and/or cloud financial analytics/reporting tools

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (computer science, computer engineering, finance, accounting)
  • 10+ years' experience within the Financial Services / Software industry,, preferably in Business Analysis, Finance or a similarly functioning role
  • Knowledge of cloud services costs, including experience with building allocation methodologies for appropriate spread of shared services
  • Ability to foster strong relationships across client organizations, with senior managers and key decision makers in a large firm, including good personal and working relationships with end users
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
