Overview

The Technology Refresh and Estate Management program governs EOL Lifecycle across all asset classes for Northern Trust. The data analyst will develop reports and provide data analysis support through ad-hoc and repeated reporting requests. This role will provide data analysis and reporting ensuring that the EOL assets are correctly identified and the execution of the EOL / EOS capabilities are appropriately reported on. This role will report through the Enterprise Architecture organization and report directly in the Technology Refresh and Estate Management program.

Major Duties

1. Consults with partners regarding new techniques, practices, or technologies in data processing and the impact of proposed and ongoing projects. 2. Provides analytical insights for management through development of PowerBI or other reporting platform reports.

3. Develops reports in coordination with disparate data sets from different data repositories within Northern Trust. 4. Reviews reports with leadership to align data trends to in scope project work.

5. Evaluates and makes recommendation on techniques, practices, or technologies that would enhance business needs. Also does work to ensure continuous process improvements. Examples could include providing usability improvements to Excel documents.

6. Develops or maintains data driven reporting and analysis, including designing, coding, testing, debugging, and installation as needed.

7. Conducts feasibility studies and defines and designs system requirements for complex data processing projects.

8. Prepares project phase reports, including requirements, feasibility, definition and design. May also review and validate requirements, definition and design to evaluate production impact and support requirements

9. Carries out activities that are large in scope and technically difficult

10. Role is balanced between high level operational execution and development, and execution of strategic direction of business function activities

Knowledge

- Knowledge of reporting tools, programming languages, various business applications, state of the art technology, and current trends in the computer industry is required to evaluate and recommend new technologies.

- Knowledge of various application designs and programming techniques, usually acquired through related experience, is required to evaluate processes.

- Analytical and problem solving skills are needed for systems guidance.

- Comfortable with cloud and server technology both terminology and upcoming trends.

Experience

- A College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience is required

- Experience with project feasibility, definition requirements, and design and/or project leadership.

- Experience with various technical programming languages, and phase report studies are required.

- Expert level skills with Excel are required.

- Development experience with PowerBI is required. Development using Python or similar programming languages is a plus.
