The Corporate Insurance & Advisory function (Corporate Insurance) at Goldman Sachs is responsible for managing property, casualty, and management liability insurance needs of the Firm and its various investing businesses.Primary responsibilities include mapping operational risk to insurance solutions, procurement, management, and administration of the firm's insurance programs. Additional responsibilities include Insurance diligence and advisory across the firm's investing business. The team is seeking an Associate with strong acumen in insurance and/or risk management to assist in executing the firm's insurance strategy.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide insurance due diligence reviews for global real estate transactions consisting of contract review, collection and analysis of underwriting information, placement of appropriate coverages, review of binders, endorsements, and premium invoices.
- Review all insurance documentation ensure accuracy of terms and conditions and that contractual requirements are met.
- Complete insurance allocations/ insurance budgets and coordination on global invoicing. Collaboration with insurance brokers/insurance markets, internal firm stakeholders, and various global operating partners.
- Administration of insurance programs. Participate in annual renewal process including, but not limited to review of underwriting data, portfolio structural analysis, carrier discussions, review of quotations and approval of premium allocation schedules
- Advise deal and investing desks globally by providing risk management input on all relevant contracts and agreements partnering with Legal and Procurement
- Assist in the management of claims progress across applicable lines of business to ensure proactive claims management. Performs periodic quality control claims audits, claims reporting and participates in strategic claim reviews to ensure claims are being managed proactively and in accordance with our company's philosophy.
- Maintain schedule of insurance coverage and key data inputs (including carriers, limits, key terms, dates, premium, etc.).
- Administer and ensure data integrity in Risk Management Information (RIMIS) database system
- Assist project management team on platform project department initiatives (automation, data, and reporting initiatives)
- Coordinate on international property and casualty placement and program administration
Qualifications
- Minimum five years of experience in insurance risk management (e.g., in-house risk management team, broker or insurance company)
- Ability to identify and synthesize operational risk data and insurance mitigation
- Strong analytics skills with the ability to work with large sets of data, financial analysis (Advanced Excel, VBA)
- Strong organizational skills with experience working to meet deadlines in a highly dynamic environment
- Commercial real Estate and private equity experience a plus
- Knowledge and understanding of property and casualty insurance
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Enthusiastic, intellectually curious and desire to understand the different business activities of the firm
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong delivery focus
- Experience working in Risk Management Information Systems (RIMS) a plus
- Possess a bachelor's degree at a minimum
- Insurance-specific industry designations (CPCU, ARM, AIDA, AIAF) a plus
